Thrilled to see @CAPAC’s Krystal Ka’ai named to lead the important @WhiteHouseAAPI. I’m excited to see her continue advocating alongside #AAPI students across the country.
NEW: President Biden is expected to sign an executive order formally re-establishing @WhiteHouseAAPI on Friday and will tap @CAPAC executive director Krystal Ka'ai to lead the expanded initiative.

We have heavy hearts tonight as we mourn eight people who have lost their lives in a senseless act of violence. There is much to learn tonight but many victims are Asian, calling into question if this is related to recent hate crimes and assaults against Asian Americans.

NEW: At least 8 people were killed in shooting scenes in two Georgia counties, Atlanta-area officials said. The shootings have not been linked by authorities.
A suspect in one of those shootings is in custody, sheriff's Capt. Jay Baker says. nbcnews.to/3tsxHMW

My heart breaks for our AAPI communities across the country. Yesterday’s tragedy in Atlanta was an act of hate and misogyny rooted in a history of anti-Asian racism. We must stand up to it and stand with our AAPI communities. #StopAAPIHate

We must not ignore the recent rise in anti-Asian racism and violence. We must seek to understand our history, embrace Asian American communities, combat xenophobia, and build bridges across difference. Our @SmithsonianAPA offers critical resources. smithsonianapa.org/learn/not…
