Today our hearts are heavy, as there was an active shooter incident involving multiple victims in downtown Blacksburg last night. The Virginia Tech Rescue Squad, Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, Blacksburg Police Department, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded.

Last night, and the days to come, will be hard for everyone in our community. Please know that our @StudentsAtVT departments are ready to assist. And, if you were directly impacted or just want to talk please contact @Hokie_DOS.

Right now, 1 in 4 women who are out of the workforce say they can't go back because they can't find child care. If we want an economic recovery that lifts everyone up, it’s time to invest in quality, affordable child care just like we do in roads and bridges.

Instead of voting on this ridiculous resolution, the other regents should vote to censure Pillen. Someone who believes in outlawing ideas that he doesn’t like has no business on the governing board of a university.
.@jim_pillen's resolution, which will be presented at next month's regents meeting, says that "we oppose discrimination in any form" while arguing that #CriticalRaceTheory proponents "seek to silence opposing views and disparage important American ideals." omaha.com/news/local/educati…
