The Federal Government of #Somalia strongly opposes the recent statement from the Executive Secretary of #IGAD, deeming it biased towards the #Ethiopian Government. We call on the Executive Secretary to immediately apologize, withdraw the statement and take appropriate action.

If #Ethiopia recognizes #Somaliland, it will be considered a “nuclear option” by #Somalia. In retaliation, #Mogadishu will invoke its own nuclear option, to which Addis is extremely vulnerable to, given its deep & multiple internal crisis + regional problems w/ #Eritrea & #Egypt
Ethiopia officially confirms its intention to extend international recognition to Somaliland. Ambassador Misganu Arega, state minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told BBC Amharic that Ethiopia will recognise Somaliland as a sovereign state.

Principled and timely statement from @EU_Commission. As the seat of @_AfricanUnion, #Ethiopia should NOT violate the AU charter, which protects territorial integrity of member states. But if Addis recognizes #Somaliland, it will open a canopy of worms that will haunt it later.

Ethiopia's violation of Somalia's territorial integrity and so-called MOU undermines the international order and violates the principles upheld by IGAD, AU, and UN.
#Somalia will not be cowed. It’s also imperative for the international community to stand up against such actions.
Territorial sovereignty is not a gift to be given/taken at will, but a fundamental right that must be respected by all nations.
No free pass for diplomatic adventurism & blatant breaching of UN Charter & Article 4 of AU Constitutive Act. A reciprocity is well justified. #Somalia

I’ve just listened to H.E @HassanSMohamud’s speech on the recent wins against terrorism including the liberation of the strategic town of Adan Yabaal. The speech was thought-provoking, uniting & focused on the aftermath of 🇸🇴’s liberation. I call on all #Somalis to support him.
