As the sun rises behind the mountains, light falls onto the last habitat we will ever cover in Lemuria! The alpine desert in the Paramalyan mountains is a world of giant lilies and red lichens. Few other things can grow up here, as only fog and some monsoon rains reach here.

Some extinct animals with kinked upper jaw (wanted to say subnarial gap but I don't think that's accurate for some of 'em).

Paleoartist Joschua Knüppe has been found using witchcraft to turnbodies of water into giant pseudosuchians. It is unclear how this will affect the trout population. (credit: @casualsoapeater)

Starting this up again! Name a piece of paleoart that had a large impact on you. This piece, by Douglas Henderson, showing a Rutiodon startling some Fadrosaurus, lives rent free in my head. The masterful use of light and dark totally stunned me as a child.
Name a piece of paleoart that had a large impact on you. This piece by Gregory S. Paul was certainly influential. As a kid it confused me a lot because I wasn't used to seeing a Chasmosaurus in this perspective or pose. It might have started my interest in shapes.

The very south of Lemuria is reaching into the temperate climate zone and so the many lakes down here are often times surrounded by yellows and oranges as the colder season comes around.

In the lowlands, between the savannah and the desert the ephemeral wetlands are hotspots of biodiversity. As the monsoon rains cross the mountains in the North only a small portion of the water is retained in the desert. Instead in forms huge expanses of pools and waterways at...

...currently I am not convinced this thing could even fully close its mouth. Perhaps the reconstruction proposed by the study does not properly articulate these elements or account for taphonomy, but for now it remains "beyond the scope of this paper". Please CT scan this thing!

So for now, I did the best I could with what we have. Fun fact! Fleshy cheeks have actually been proposed for omphalosaurids since at least 2003.
