Two things that somehow we’ve grandfathered out:
1. Lifetime guarantees
2. Refundable flights
I miss the days when these were the standards for consumer protection.

I wrote a blog post about what I did on my gap year. It felt like a crazy time working across startups. My hope is to provide a perspective for those taking time off from school or those interested in a sample from the experiences of young people in tech.

Ik you’re supposed to take the airside really seriously but how can I when there’s little cars that look like this? 😭
“An intellectual life is not the same thing as a career or productivity. It is an habit of attention, an atmosphere of curiosity, and a desire to always question and seek answers.”

From traveling, I noticed the adult world is completely boring to a child. They don’t care at all about getting matcha lattes or mileage plus credits, having the right morning routine or medications. They just wanna learn new things.
Makes sense now why people in the prime of their acuity and fitness decide to have kids - kinda inspirational.

Something I noticed between small Portuguese Fado and NY jazz bars is they put the performers right in front of the door. I had to squeeze between the performers and tripped on a guitar cord in front of everyone just trying to get it.
But once you make it, it’s hard to leave. This is such a hack. People naturally focus more on the performance and less on what’s next.
I wanted to make a post claiming NY was worse than SF then I realized they’re both disgusting at the extremes.

Today was my last day at Modal.
I had an amazing 6 months on the training team, working on sandbox infra (RDMA) and on-policy distillation methods.
Currently feeling quite ambivalent about it: will be missing the people here but also excited to start college at CMU this fall!

We recently obtained the highest-resolution 3D images of the human brain ever taken from outside the skull. This is the first look.
