So, I have been seeing a lot of posts from APC guys saying that the money used to buy the jeeps was private money from the party. Why are you disturbed? It’s not government money. Please, you should be reasonably circumspect for once. The First Lady has said she bought the car, so it wasn’t Dayo Israel who bought those cars. The First Lady bought those cars for APC youth leaders in states without APC governors. Recall, she has done the same for APC women leaders in states without APC governors.
Now the question is, who is appropriating this money for the First Lady? The money that she’s using to buy these cars, was it appropriated for? Where is the First Lady getting money from that she’s donating one billion here, two billion there? She’s just donating money in billions of naira. How come the First Lady has that much money to buy vehicles for APC youth leaders and gave brand-new, latest Hummer buses to the same Dayo Israel for APC zonal youth leaders? Where is she getting all these funds from? These are fundamental conversations we should be having. The government is telling us we should bear the pain; we should bear the brunt of the policies that they’ve created. And yet we are seeing government appointees, the wife of the president, wives of governors, governors, appointees of states, spend money recklessly in a country that has the highest poverty level in the world. In a country where the productive capacity of its citizens has dropped drastically due to a lack of economic growth. In a country where people cannot even afford one square meal, let alone two. And yet we are spending this kind of money recklessly to buy Jeeps.
These are fundamental questions that we need to ask. We are not behaving like a people who have anything upstairs. Again, i ask, where is the First Lady getting this kind of money to be buying that Jeep? One of those Jeeps costs over 150 million naira. Why are we so reckless when it comes to spending our common patrimony? You tell the people to endure, yet you are spending this kind of money in a Country where it is extremely difficult for people to survive. It doesn’t make any sense. I hope that those of you defending this kind of mindless recklessness realize that you’re doing yourself a big disservice. Whatever you think you're benefiting from today, or defending, won’t last long. At most, the moment this election is over, that would be all. From January, you'll be discarded.
We cannot continue like this as a nation. It doesn’t make any sense. Public officials cannot spend recklessly like this, and we all keep quiet, as if there’s nothing wrong with it. It is very, very sad. This should be a front-burner issue; one of this government's biggest problems is reckless spending. Spend money recklessly. With bare face, the government tells the citizens that, oh, we cannot do subsidy, we don’t have money to pay for subsidy. In the end, the money they spend recklessly like this would have been channelled to add value to improving citizens' living conditions. It’s just sad.
