Our #mormyrid paper is finally out in Eco&Evo!😍 We show that trophic ecology of African elephant fishes differs within the species community, incl. three species (two undescribed!:-) of the Mormyrus genus from the Sanaga River in Cameroon. Thks, Gina!

Finished the parrotfish skull, pretty on the inside and outside. These guys are basically just wrasses that dialed their bones up to 10 so that they can crunch hard stuff... I respect it #backdatwrasseup

Welcome to the world, Macroprosopon! Huge thanks go out to @acapomorphic and @Friedman_Lab for giving me the opportunity to work on both the skeletal and life reconstructions of this crazy fish.
Say hello to Macroprosopon hiltoni, "[Eric J.] Hilton's long face". This long-snouted fossil bonytongue was a relative of today's freshwater arapaima, but it lived in Moroccan seas 50 million years ago! Magnificent artwork by Sky Jung @HBivittatus Link: academic.oup.com/zoolinnean/…

I am stoked to annouce that my masters has finally been published in @ASNAmNat! Here we investigated whether the evolution of a diadromous life history can alter rates of trait evolution and drive phenotypic convergence in clupeiformes. Check er out!

Have you ever wondered about the Bony Tongue? You're not alone. Come on this exploratory journey with me!!

ALT A presentation title slide. "To Bite or Not to Bite?" An investigation into the Tongue-Bite-Apparatus in mormyrid fishes (Osteoglossiformes). The authors are Dr. Kassandra Ford and Dr. Patricia Hernandez. Images include head pictures of 3 mormyrids, 2 skull pictures from CT scans, and 1 Tongue-Bite-Apparatus picture.

Never thought we'd see an infographic about conodont biostratigraphy in a piece about Barbie and Oppenheimer, but here we are. Also: conodonts are now officially horrifying jawless eels to me from here on out. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…
