WE ARE ON
Great to back with @stanchers 📻
I’m ready.
Ready to join that particular group of presenters who get to marshal quite frankly the best time for some real conversation on the radio.
I feel really very lucky.
@bbc5live here I come 📻
Had to stop by the old place just to see it again. Feels like a million years since I worked there and so much has changed in every sense 📻
📲 Emi Martínez on Instagram:
“Seven years ago, I arrived at Aston Villa with a dream. Today I say goodbye with a heart full of memories, gratitude & pride. This club became so much more than just a place where I played football. It became my home. From my first day to the unforgettable nights, the victories, the difficult moments & everything in between, I gave everything I had for this badge. But what I will carry with me goes far beyond football. The friendships I made during these seven years, the people I met & the moments we shared together will stay with me forever. Some of those people became more than teammates & colleagues, they became my family. To my teammates, coaches, staff &, most importantly, the Villa fans — thank you for believing in me, supporting me & making these seven years so special. I leave with incredible memories, lifelong friendships & a love for this club that will never leave me. Thank you, Aston Villa. Thank you, Villans. Once a Villan, always a Villan.” 💜
I can’t think of another player in my lifetime that was world class & at the peak of his powers whilst at VP but Emi was
He was often the difference, which makes him irreplaceable in many ways
Simply an outstanding GK, he leave a total legend & I won’t have it any other way
Emiliano Martinez and the long goodbye:
▪️Superb GK and instrumental in #AVFC's rise
▪️Martinez wanted to leave for two successive summers
▪️Villa done with the ongoing saga
▪️Suzuki deemed perfect replacement & Bizot as No 2 meant no mass overhaul of GK dept
▪️Strong last season but concerns over warm-up pull-outs
▪️Man Utd last summer, Juventus & then Chelsea

Aston Villa can confirm that Lucas Digne has completed a permanent transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
The defender joined Villa in January 2022 from Everton and would go on to make 182 appearances in claret and blue, scoring four goals and registering 24 assists.
Digne was a key part of the side that won the UEFA Europa League last season before helping France reach the semi finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
A consummate professional, who was highly regarded by his fellow players and staff alike, Lucas leaves Aston Villa with the very best wishes of everyone at the football club.
