Yeah, itâs clear you donât understand.
Bo1 + Bo3 top cut is an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT GAME to Bo3 w sideboard. Sideboard affects main deck construction.
Everything is still skewed drastically in Japanâs favor from a competitive standpoint. Fix your game or youâre gonna lose it fast

I'm absolutely sick and tired of this narrative that there isn't enough time to run #GCG finals in B03 SB.
Pokémon is B03.
Magic is B03.
Yu-Gi-Oh is B03.
Riftbound is B03.
Star Wars: Unlimited is B03.
Lorcana is B03.
DIGIMON is B03.
There were 14 regionals in NA and EU. That means 224 players qualified. Let's assume another 300 or so made it in from store championships and every single player shows up. This 500-player tournament in B03 with 50 minutes of round time, 5 minutes of overtime and starting swiss at 9am would be done with Swiss by 5.30pm.
The earliest OPTCG finals has ever finished swiss is 6pm in B01.
If 5.30pm is too late, no worries! You could do what every other TCG does and not play all of swiss on day 1. If you play 7 rounds of swiss on day 1 (allowing 5-2s to advance to day 2) and cut to top 32 after 2 more swiss rounds you would play 7 rounds total on day 2. With a lunch break you're finishing each day around 5pm. Chuck in some delay time and we're still not even hitting dinner!

In Japan, Amuro is a participation promo and finals is B03 sideboard.
In NA and EU we had to qualify for our finals too, and Amuro was participation last year. Yes it is harder to qualify in Japan, but announcing that there is no good participation prize after people have spent a year flying to tournaments to earn qualification for finals. Additionally, LatAm and OCE are open invite (so no need to earn qualification) and Amuro is just as hard to get there. So why did I bother travelling to so many events to qualify? What's the point in earning qualification if an open invitation region has the same prizes?
Our finals is B01 with top cut B03 sideboard. Besides the fact that this format is complete nonsense (b03 SB would have a completely different main deck to B01 and a different share of decks just to start), it also means we have to test 2 formats (neither of which will actually be what the world finals format is). This is also the second year in a row that Japan got to play their finals in B03 sideboard when no one else did. It's a massive competitive advantage to do this when the world finals format is b03 sideboard (which it was last year and will almost certainly be this year).
The feeling is that Bandai are trying to give the Japanese players an unfair advantage against the rest of the world so one of them becomes world champion this year. It makes me and many others players not want to compete due to starting at a disadvantage and having no prizes that are worth making the trip to finals for.
The most frustrating thing is it's a very easy solution, which is just give Amuro as participation in NA and EU (where we had to earn qualification, like they did last year) and make our finals format B03 sideboard for the entire event. All we want is to be treated the same as Japan, not better.
The feeling in the west is that Bandai have released a global game but refuse to give us the same respect as players that they give to the Japanese. I have had many comments and messages from people who will be quitting GCG after this season if they don't fix this issue for this year's finals ð

Honestly with the constant failures in leadership @GUNDAM_GCG_ENG has experienced I think after nationals I'll be moving on to other games for my competitive outlet. Currently eyeing @origins_tcg, the upcoming Beyblade TCG, and @Cyberpunk_TCG. I'll still play Gundam, just locally

I think we have to keep on the pressure even if it gets annoying.
We want parity with JP players and Prizing/Pariticpation. We all love the Gundam TCG to death and want to keep playing it, but only if it gets better for all players involved.

Is Bandai really trying to kill Gundam?
@GUNDAM_GCG_ENG @GUNDAM_GCG_JP
Seriously, I was so excited after fighting my way to get my 1st invite for nats and hoping to get an Amuro just by attending. However, I really lost my excitement after seeing the update on the participation prizing. We are getting leftovers promos that I got majority of them over months ago.
Letâs be honest, the trip only makes sense if the prizing is worth equal or higher than my expenses like flight and hotel. In this case, 3/4 of the attendees will lose money attending the nats if we are counting about 500 players just for Gundam. Iâm not saying that I gonna sell the prizing but at least grade it or keep it as a souvenir.
Please learn from Riot. Sincerely,

Japan gets Amuro for participation, top 8 qualifying for worlds and B03 Sideboard for the whole tournament.
The west gets treated like second class citizens.
Make our finals B03 sideboard for the whole event, and if it's still possible to do so also give us participation Amuro.
Fix this Bandai before players walk away. The social media backlash tells you all you need to know about this.
#GCG @official_BCG_EN @official_BCG_JP @GUNDAM_GCG_ENG @GUNDAM_GCG_JP
I am extremely disappointed with Bandai and we as a community should not be happy with this announcement.
Yes it's brilliant that NA are getting top cut but B03 sideboard as a top cut only format does absolutely nothing to improve the gameplay experience for the majority of players in the room. The game is not made better by this half-measure. I could have accepted this for regionals while the format was trialed but this now marks the second year in the row where the Japanese players are treated with a level of respect not afforded to us Western players. Not only will the Japanese players have a finals entirely in the B03 sideboard format, but they will also have it in the format much closer to the one that worlds will be played in.
That's not even discussing the prizing structure which is just an absolute joke. I was ready to fly out to the US to try and participate in their finals, I'm not very unsure about whether that's worth my time. Do Bandai actually care about the western playerbase? It doesn't feel like it. I'm genuinely questioning whether I will continue to play gundam into 2027.
