Être français est presque un handicap pour lui dans la course au Ballon d’Or. Il représente tout ce qu’une partie des Français n’aime pas : jeune, noir/métis, riche, talentueux, conscient de sa valeur et qui ne se laisse pas marcher dessus.
Si le Ballon d’Or était organisé dans un autre pays, clairement, il l’aurait gagné depuis longtemps.
