Rich kids fail college, get therapy, and try again. Poor kids fail college, lose their financial aid, and can't try again. The system has a safety net for the wealthy and a trapdoor for the poor. Second chances cost money most people don't have.

Because wealth accumulation requires a certain level of cruelty. And most smart people are not cruel. For example, let's say I run a business, and I know that in order for it to make me a millionaire, I need to pay my workers 3k p/m. As a smart person, I know that 3k p/m is nowhere near enough for someone to live comfortably on. The only question that remains is whether I care or not.
