Friends please (re)read the black swan from Nassim taleb
"Outrank backlinks burns your domain"
I saw a few people sharing that last week
(always with an agenda btw, mostly competitors)
i looked at every site with Search Console connected
grouped by backlinks received
here is median Google clicks change since joining
0-9 links: +24%
10-49: +14%
50-149: +42%
150-399: +62%
400+: +115%
my read: if your site receives more backlinks from Outrank ...
👉 it grows more
some connected sites have SEO decreasing traffic (orange below), but most were going down before they started using Outrank. AND again, the more backlinks received by Outrank, the slower the decrease is
Outrank is a net positive for your domain
I run it myself on ALL of the websites in my portfolio
un excellent visionnage en ces périodes de google updates.
talk donné chez google en 2012 par ailleurs^^
Smash a Maserati into a wall at 100 miles per hour and it is gone. Tap the same wall 100 times at one mile per hour and it drives home. Nassim Taleb showed this for free at Google in 2012.
He was an options trader for twenty years before anyone called him a philosopher. He told the room Harvard and Stanford teach students they can measure risk. "In reality, we can't measure risk. I can measure fragility."
Fragility has one rule. The bigger the single dose, the worse the damage. Jump from 10 meters and you die. Jump 10 centimeters a hundred times and nothing happens. Same total distance.
He pulled the same math on money. A 100 million pound project in the UK had 30% higher cost overruns than a 5 million pound one. Not worse management. Worse physics. Size itself is fragility.
Then he flipped the famous line. "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger" is wrong. What kills me makes others stronger. The survivors learn. The dead don't get credit.
The full lecture is in this post. Fifty five minutes. He opens by asking the audience to interrupt him if they're angry. They do.
et ça continue...encore et encore...

Everyone overthinks marketing.
For every product launch we did at X, I wrote the announcement 20min before clicking post.
Better to be launching something every week instead of focusing on how to make a single-day traffic spike slightly larger.

Developers
Steve Ballmer screamed one word 14 times in 1999 and is now worth $126B
The clip runs 57 seconds blue shirt soaked through, voice already gone, a 43-year-old executive bouncing across a stage like the building was on fire.
He asks the room what the $64,000 question is, then answers it himself.
Developers, developers, developers.
For 25 years that was the joke ringtones, remixes, a man losing his mind over a software framework.
What the joke missed is that he was the only person in the building paid to be right about it.
Ballmer walked into Microsoft in 1980 as employee number 30, a Stanford business school dropout with no engineering degree, hired to sell.
Gates handed him a $50,000 salary and roughly 8% of the company.
He never sold the 8%.
While Gates moved $100B+ into a foundation, Ballmer just sat there through the antitrust years, through Vista, through the $7.6B Nokia writedown, through 13 years of a flat stock and a press corps calling him the worst CEO in tech.
Then the cloud arrived and the shares he’d held since before Windows shipped went up more than 10x.
He owns about 4% of Microsoft today.
That one stake is worth more than the Clippers he bought for $2B in 2014, more than every paycheck he ever collected, more than Bill Gates has left after 25 years of giving it away.
The sweating man on stage wasn’t hyping a framework.
He was telling 1,000 people exactly where the money would sit for the next 40 years, and they laughed.
The clip is still a joke.
The 8% never moved.
The salesman ended up the richer friend.
