Very awesome opportunity to speak to first-year Real Estate & Housing @LangUofG students at @UofG today. Graduates of REH represent some of the best & brightest Realtors in their markets - and we love scooping as many as we can at @planet_realty.

Liberals today: Roger that, how about 750,000 new migrants per year going forward?

Good catch. Confirmed that this is a new "one-time" measure for 2027. So we will have more PRs admitted in 2027 than any other year in HISTORY by a wide margin.
Wait until you see this chart.
@MarkJCarney and the liberals are LYING to you!
Replying to @BenRabidoux
Two different measures amounting to 200k
But they had smaller "one-time" measures last year...

Complexity in policy design is a curse. We don't need different tax rates for different age groups. Just raise the tax-free threshold for everyone.

Ontario’s childcare sector is already in a staffing crisis, and now Ford is freezing workers’ wages for 2027.
Ontario is a wealthy province. Saying we can’t afford an extra $1 an hour for the people who care for our kids shows exactly where Doug Ford’s priorities lie.
Greens are calling on Ford to reverse this move. It’s time to put care back at the centre of politics.

807 GTA homes hit the market as power of sale in the last 12 months. A year earlier it was 484. Up 67%. Still only 0.5% of new listings, but it's going one way.

This misses the point.
It obviously was a blunder.
But Trump was a disaster on almost every issue.
This wasn't just about the war, like in 2006. This was a total rejection of Trumpism.

Canada needs to build domestic data centres if it wants to retain anything approaching a sovereign voice in the future.
The environmental objections are largely fake. Ontario has one of the cleanest grids in the world and is emerging as a global leader in SMRs, with enormous potential for behind-the-meter power generation.
And inference data centres can serve any number of models, including adapted open-weight models.
NEW: The Ford government will approve its first swath of new AI data centres “sooner rather than later,” even as the province faces mounting calls for a moratorium over environmental and data sovereignty concerns.

I’ve been contemplating the fact that a lot of Canadians I know are hanging their hopes on the American midterms returning the House and possibly (though not as likely) the Senate to the Democrats. The belief is that if that happens, the American president will be neutered until his term ends two years hence, and the relationship between our two countries will “go back to normal.” Donald Trump essentially pushes through his ideas via Executive Order, and shows a fine disregard for the other branches of government. I do not believe it will go back to normal — even Gavin Newsom, a progressive socialist Democrat will not commit to ending tariffs should he win.
The reality is that although Donald Trump grossly exaggerates our alleged ripping off of America, we, like Europe, have been free riders on American defence capabilities for decades, and that is shameful.
The first responsibility of any government is to protect its citizens. Ours is both unwilling and incapable of doing so. Our government has flooded the country with migrants from low-trust societies, with no expectation from those coming here to respect our cultural norms. Quite the opposite, in fact. The pressure on our infrastructure is extreme, and it has caused division unlike anything I’ve seen here in my long-ish life.
Our own country is a complete mess, and yet voter turnout for both provincial and municipal elections is abysmal. We have a prime minister who like most of the Laurentian elite is entirely disconnected from the electorate and a heavily subsidised msm which does not report honestly on the state of the nation.
Still we are convinced that somehow a Democratic triumph south of the border will “save” us. It will not. The Democratic party has been overrun by progressive socialists and my view is that in the event of the flipping of the House the result in the next presidential election will be a victory for a Republican. A centrist and decent Republican would in my view be preferable to Gavin Newsom, who is fine with alliwing men into women’s prisons, shelters and sports (very much like our own government).
But really, should we not be a tad less fixated on the United States and look at the terrible state our own country is in? The work to fix these things is hard. Yet we are not free to abandon it.
