Please, Jazz fans stop begging for centers who can’t stay on the court in the playoffs
Maybe we trust Austin and Danny since they haven’t let us astray once yet?

I will say this about Boozer. He seems like everything you’d want in a player. He comes off as humble, hard working, and ready to work. There doesn’t seem to be an ounce of drama that follows him.

If you’ve coached a great offensive player who is athletic and competes, you can teach him to play defense. It’s a lot harder to teach a good defensive player to put the ball in the basket consistently. Criticism of some of these players’ defensive ability in college is vastly overrated.

This is the essence of Boozer. How much does athleticism matter. 5 of the top 10 players in nba aren't elite athletically. Maybe it is a hands and foot sport not a jumping sport

@Tjonesonthenba @DLocke09 is Can Boozers only real weakness that he doesn’t jump explosively? I never thought Larry Bird could jump either … love to hear your thoughts.

Darryn Peterson is a real enigma. Check this out
Q: "Would you rather be at the rim or outside on fire from downtown"
DP: "I'd rather be at the 3 point line but (Coach) Self want me on the rim so I got to make him happy"
DP "I like to finesse"

I not worried so much about the playmaking as
“Everyone close to the team says Self put Peterson primarily off ball this season cause he couldn't be relied on to consistently play, let alone run the offense through him. Council Jr took on most PG duties.”
NBA is more grueling.

An individuals Defense, especially from the point guard position, is criminally overrated.
The modern NBA is all about getting the ball in the hoop.
The best defense in the NBA is scoring and avoiding turnovers, on offense.
Offense > Defense

For those saying Jaren Jackson Jr. (cannot) play the 5, is a bit extreme.
I just went through all the lineup data 2021 through 2025. Did not use the seasons prior, or this year due to tanking in both instances
I filtered all lineups, 25 minutes minimum.
So…either (1)
He played no legit 5, minutes ever over 25 minutes a year
Or
He was the 5 when Clarke, Roddy, Aldama shared the floor
28 total lineups, 10 of which were +11.7 net ratings.
15/28 were positive.
4 of the 6 lineups most common lineups with Jackson as “center” had positive net ratings, all of which had no Morant
Looks to me, at least by the data he certainly can be effective at the 5, which is great for versatility. Maybe not permanent….but certainly on occasion.

All three are very talented.
Two already have Utah connections.
The one who doesn't was pulling himself out of games with mysterious injuries we have no clarity on.
Are we sure that's the one we want to pick?

As someone who lived through 2018 Luka discourse, this all just seems so familiar to me.

I started out this process on lottery night thinking Boozer was a poor fit with Utah but find myself thinking now that he’s a sensational fit. The amount of lineup flexibility the Jazz would have is pretty insane.
