Grateful to The Global Indian for featuring my journey in their Cover Story today. From a PhD in Chemical Engineering in South Carolina, to bioinformatics research in Singapore, teaching at Keio University in Japan, building an analytics startup, and now running Mysore Polymers and Rubber Products (yes, our rubber bellows fly on every PSLV and GSLV launch!) — it has been a winding road. Through all of it, one passion has stayed constant: India's past, and the stories that never made it into our school textbooks. Why don't more of us know about Lachit Borphukan at Saraighat, Marthanda Varma at Colachel, or the Chola navy's voyages across Southeast Asia? That question has led to five books in six years — The Battle of Vathapi trilogy, Daughter of Two Rivers, and now Mahakshana: Moments That Shaped the Mahabharata, which pauses at the defining moments when choices were made and destinies changed forever. In the interview, I talk about how Amish's Meluha trilogy first pushed me to write, the history teacher who made us copy Ashoka's inscription in the original script, and how I manage 10,000 words a week alongside a day job. Thank you, Vikram Sharma , for a wonderful conversation. Sometimes we make the most stupid mistakes that we can never understand why it happens. IDK why I thought today was 29 Oct when I started my run, while I fully knew all through the day that it was 30 Oct. I was that stupid, trust me. Anyways I am glad to have crossed my Sep running volume 🧿and probably still fall short of my Oct goals by a tiny bit, with a day left now. But I am also super glad for the tiny but meaningful improvement over the last month of 100K. Very grateful for everything Oct brought 🙌🏻
Tried to do what I'm supposed to be doing. Got a surprise free slot to head out for a run. One of the best runs in the recent times, after many months of poor timing 🧿. Still a long way to go but slowly & steadily getting on track. 4 more days to go &🤞🏻for Oct running goals.

During his toast, Himesh Patel spoke about how many of the people in the room “hold power and influence.” “In these precarious times, I believe it’s imperative for each of us to think about where we hold it, and how we use it to do good in the world,” Patel said. Patel went on to talk about his own story. He grew up in a village in Cambridgeshire, England, where his parents ran a corner shop, and he delivered newspapers. When he landed his first acting gig at the age of 16, he continued, his parents “made sure” that he kept up his paper route each day. “As immigrants who built everything they had with their own hands, they know that nothing is certain except the fact that nothing is certain,” Patel said of his parents. He said that his story feels “unlikely because it’s sometimes been hard to believe I ever belong in rooms like this.” Patel observed that when TIME was founded in 1923, his ancestors were living in a village in Gujarat, India, where they “were still subjects of colonialism.” “103 years later, here I am, standing amongst you. I have those ancestors to thank,” he said. “Because they resisted their oppressors, they fought for their independence. In the face of fear, they chose to hope. Because my parents crossed oceans, defied the odds to build a new life in an unknown land. In the face of uncertainty, they chose to hope.” Patel called hope “an act of defiance,” and ended his remarks by encouraging everyone in the room to “choose to hope.” “All of us here are being told that we hold power and influence,” Patel said. “I’m using mine, standing here amongst all you incredible people to say: in these precarious times, in the face of fear and uncertainty—I choose to hope. Maybe you will too. Because imagine the power and the influence that act could hold.”
At a gala in Manhattan Thursday night to celebrate the 2026 TIME100 next list, actor and honoree Himesh Patel challenged fellow honorees to choose "hope" in uncertain times.

yes...but... ...there will be... ...phases like... "ఏది మనదనుకుంటాం ఏది కాదనుకుంటాం లేని తల రాతని వెతికే మనసుకు ఏమని చెబుతాం ఎంతకని దిగిపోతాం ఎంతకని దిగులవుతాం రాని మమకారాన్నడిగి ఎంతని పరుగులు పెడతాం"

let us love legs & heart, both equally I am learning to say "thank you" to them more frequently and with more intentionality
Why does your heart not get tired like other muscles do?

a walk without listening to anything or with listening to people who can help to spark those original ideas either ways I gained respect for walking post COVID, yes I still love running but I respect walking too
A walk ~1 hour before a task is linked to more original ideas.

who cares about poverty man, many PMs tried it in the past but failed, so what if this govt achieved it, no one really bothers as is it there aren't any who are poor around us these days they are all mostly busy with so many things like malls, movies, mobile phones, festivals and what not all that people care now is about being rich, moving to upper middle class and ensuring that all sorts of problems (personal, societal, professional) of middle class are all addressed immediately, and have a prosperous enjoyable life that's what politicians are there for, poverty isn't anyone's business anyways anymore don't do too much of promotions on such achievements, no one has time for it and aren't interested in that discussions some folks are just interested in the entertainment of the voices representing the lazy and unemployed that doesn't mean they are going to take these as any progress
According to World Bank's latest report, India's extreme poverty has fallen from 27.6% to just under 2.6%. And for Indians living under Rs. 400 a day (lower middle income), it has come down from 57.7% of the population to 16.1%. Remarkable achievement by India given the rupee depreciated and the inflationary pressure of a fast growing economy.

to imagine that someone even remotely thinks about your goals and wish lists is a fantasy/delusion to experience that in real time is a true privilege which you cannot take for granted ever be humble yet so grateful that you wish them back every good they possibly should gain

Our life experience is largely dependent not on what happens around us but what happens within us. To make the most of this life, it is more important to travel inwards than outwards. It might be lonely but totally worth it. Happy morning to all the digi-tail humans. Good day!
