Maine's Data Center Moratorium bill LD307 has actually passed both House and Senate. It's awaiting approval by the Senate Appropriations Committee. Which is most likely a procedural rubber stamp. It will then be enacted into law.

JUST IN: Maine is set to become the first state to pass a ban on data center construction.

NEW: Oregon has passed a moratorium on tax incentives for data centers. HB 4084 excluded data centers from a property tax exemption program until 2027, and makes it permanently harder for them to qualify.

NEW: South Dakota has passed the "Data Center Bill of Rights for Citizens" SB 135 requires utilities to create separate rate structures for DCs, and for DCs to provide notice of project water consumption - which must be approved as "compatible with the local water supply."
