Feel like we can breathe a little bit today. I can finally share that despite the harassment, the smearing, the intimidation, Rutgers promoted me to full professor this summer. A testament to fact that hiding will not make us safer & speaking does not make us more vulnerable.

Zora Neale Hurston called it ‘the double descriptive,’ our ‘second most notable’ characteristic or aesthetic of Black expression and rhetoric
I have another question… In old Gospel songs why did they always say “There was a blind man, blind and could not see…” ???? WHY?

So long as we are using anecdata ... I'm White and I got a postdoc in AfAm, an Asst Prof job in race, and an Assoc prof job in race. The idea that people don't hire White folks in race positions is ridiculous (but you also could deduce that from looking at the field).

My brother in law went to Columbia and they actually called alumni this past week to ask for donations for their fund. It happens every year, but they probably should have cancelled that too.

Black people who don’t have vitiligo talk so much shit about Black people with vitiligo and not only is it cruel and ignorant, it’s anti-Black in this really wild and complex way. Y’all don’t know what it’s like to lose your melanin like this, what this change is like.

They’re “seceding” from a majority-Black city to create a whites-only enclave in Louisiana.
BREAKING: Louisiana Supreme Court has voted to allow residents to secede from Democrat-run Baton Rouge and create their own city. The new city, St. George, will have nearly 100,000 people, making it one of the state’s largest cities in population. “This is the culmination of citizens exercising their constitutional rights,” Andrew Murrell, a leader of the effort to create the city, said in a statement, adding, “Now we begin the process of delivering on our promises of a better city.”
