We just launched ParentBench, a live board testing whether AI can do the school-app errands parents do every day. Muse is way ahead: Muse Power can save parents 56 minutes every week. Help us map your kid's apps: sproutgoodhabits.com/map View article

Getting CI cost down is the current battle to fight for all of us builders!
CI is now #2 on my list of costs, right below tokens. Our GitHub Actions usage went from $341 in August to $3,096 in October, that's insane! Had a chat with @mattgapp about some options to save money without slowing everything to a halt! 1) AWS Spot + @RunsOnRunsOn TIL, Spot is discounted spare computing capacity from AWS. You can rent it cheaper, but AWS can reclaim it when it needs the capacity back. RunsOn connects GitHub Actions to runners in your own AWS account, so you don’t have to build all the plumbing yourself. Works even better if you have both GitHub and AWS credits! 2) Rent servers from cheaper providers like @OVHcloud or @Hetzner_Online. Run your own GitHub Actions runners there, or use @buildkite to manage the pipelines. More stuff to maintain, but worth looking at. 3) Use a managed runner provider like @usejog or @useblacksmith. Both are pitching cheaper and faster GitHub Actions runners. From my explorations, Blacksmith seems more focused on speed and caching, while Jog is really pushing on price. Both claim savings, so we’ll see what happens on our actual builds. Probably worth trying them on our actual builds rather than comparing landing-page numbers. We're going to see a lot more of these popping up! @boatdotdev is another interesting one on the VM/CI side. Will check them out!

Really looking forward to adding Terra to our ParentBench, except @ChatGPT can't get through sign-in or hand the browser back to me, no matter what I try. A model is only as good as the harness it runs on.
GPT-6.1 Terra: delivering fast and capable computer use at a lower price. GPT-6.1 Terra understands what’s on screen, takes action across apps, writes naturally, and is a more capable model for your whole workday with the efficiency to take on more of it.

my daughter has a music show-and-tell this week, and for the first time ever she wants to practice piano. We practiced together but I had to leave on a work trip in the Bay, so I set her up with a practice partner before I left. here's her hitting the tough part 👇

So she's practicing this week even though I'm away. She even gets special gems from time to time! I'd still rather be next to her, and I'll be home soon.

If your kid is learning piano and you'd want this too, just reply. I'd love to hear from you 👇

Coming home to find this letter from my daughter last night, she is really getting into writing (and really sweet, best part of whole week)
