saying "dw they got nowhere near the model weights or customer data" isn't reassuring when I imagine being able to scrape Slack would be *immensely* helpful in planning an attack to get said data, and a few pentesters took 12 hours rather than an intel agency taking months

though on the point of cash regulation I think we're currently ahead of NZ, so far with a mandate for supermarkets and petrol stations to accept cash + the Cash Distribution Framework Act to deal with the potential collapse of Armaguard

anyway I guess I shouldn't complain, as a lover of the high-taxing high-spending big state, that I have fewer opportunities to avoid tax
I do wonder whether the overall economic benefit that govs use to justify duty-free actually works out nowadays
Replying to @ajdlinux @taipan168
the only use for a duty free store is buying random overpriced gifts because you completely forgot before getting to the airport

MAXIMISE Your Liquor Allowance
v sad that as a non-drinker and non-smoker there's actually nothing that's cheap in duty free (as opposed to _almost_ nothing, if you find a really good alcohol deal)
the first post-IPO Anthropic shareholder AGM is gonna be a fun experience surely. can't overrule the founders on votes, but can cause some interesting scenes?

You are legally required to carry liability insurance to operate a nuclear power plant, fly a plane, or even to drive a car.
But to build one of the most powerful technologies in human history that has already gone rogue & whose creators say poses catastrophic risks?
Nah.
Will be in Wellington for @kawaiiconNZ from Thursday night through to Sunday, who's around

Weird how they’ve found so many amazing things and yet not one single result related to practical cryptanalysis. I guess everyone should pat themselves on the back for a job well done.
We are announcing three new discoveries in mathematics, computer science, and physics about harmonic analysis, complexity theory, and quantum field theory.

New Pacing the Frontier proposal: each time an outside group successfully penetrates the defenses of a frontier AI company and captures the flag, it should reset a 3-month countdown clock before they're allowed to train new models.
EXCLUSIVE: In less than 12 hours, a group of ex-DOGE cyber researchers were able to penetrate Anthropic’s systems using AI agents — including Slack channels where the most sensitive models are discussed.
This is just weeks after
Anthropic whistleblower Joseph Coxon charged the company w/launching “a hubristic gamble” from a “private company’s Slack.”

I appreciate that there is now precedent that there is a kinda loose right to Vegemite even if it can be denied to prisoners

hey, to their credit they're not complaining, and they did indeed check their tickets and turn up at the right airport!

you'd probably know this, what's the modern selection process for Recorder of London like in actual practice? ie does the City substantively control the outcome or is the judicial appointments commission etc etc involved?
Replying to @freed_dfilan
obviously they need to add candidate height to the official voters guide

still the case in modern Russia except it's every detail of internal war planning meetings somehow being known by the CIA
(if you asked me unprimed, I'd definitely get the CV, I'd probably remember the E but not be 100% confident about it; I've personally gotten several CVE records assigned...)
Replying to @Nrg8000
tbf, a heck of a lot of people in the industry who are dealing with CVE-related stuff all the time would struggle to remember what the acronym expands to

when firstdate.sandbox.gov.sg/ finishes its current pilot, should they maintain a Public Service Only filter?
