Mr. Wonka: "Don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he wanted."
Charlie: "What happened?"
Mr. Wonka: "He lived happily ever after.”
Another one. Parker is out for all of this year after undergoing Tommy John this summer. I expect the Braves will DFA him themselves and try to stash him in the minors.
Not a big surprise here. Tena was out of options and didn't have a clear path to a roster spot next year.
Furman is on the Giants' 40-man, with 3 option years left. He is a lefty 2B who's one of the best contact hitters in the minors. He's exactly the kind of guy they'd want to help juice his bat speed; to be determined if that works with a guy who's 5'8", 170.
This is kind of a crazy one but only adds ~$25M on top of last year's payroll.

Throwing it away is another mistake that belongs on Jayden's shoulders, but if Quinn really didn't know the down, they're not putting him in a position to succeed. Quinn should be gone tomorrow.
Finally, some job openings I'm qualified for. Hit me up @marklerner @paul30toboni
Several top Nationals business executives are leaving for roles elsewhere, per source, including CFO Ted Towne and VP of Nats Park Events Jonathan Stahl, who had both been with the org for two decades, as well as CRO Chris Zaber, who arrived last year. @TalkNats first on it.
"Ultimately, it’s important to not overthink it with Susana. Even though he has a small arsenal with round-down shape traits on his fastball, he has elite arm strength and a delivery that suggests he’ll be able to throw strikes in the long run. He’s going to be hard to hit."

That 2024 run was easily the most enjoyable football has ever been for me.
The consequences have been catastrophic. Tried to microwave the roster at the ‘24 deadline/offseason. Pushed their ‘25 picks back in a critical draft for org health. And kept the HC a year too long.
Trying to figure out if this is on Jayden or the coaches, but it has to be (primarily) the coaches, right? You need to be in the headset telling him what the plan is. I have to imagine they told him to go down, and not what happened next. (Of course, he should be aware too).
Another point in favor of this: xitter.gq/Manny_benton/status/21…
That end-of-game sequence was on the coaches. Why are players running downfield routes with no timeouts? A loss would’ve been bad but somehow this tie feels worse. #Commanders

Coming out of my Nats writing hiatus.
The core of stars for the next Nats contender is clear, but a team needs complimentary pieces too. I look at some young players on the fringe of the roster and what their long term future role with the org may be

7-game LDS is great, and I love the idea of teams picking their opponents. It's a little gimmicky (and teams may just punt and say "we pick the team the bracket says we should" to avoid bulletin board material) but it could be very exciting. I don't see the logic of 154 though.
