โPeople will always criticize because itโs the jobs of the critics but if you ask the workers they will tell you that this is a relief because normally you canโt just increase salaries arbitrarily. I believe this government has instituted the law when it used to be 4 years for salary review but itโs now going to be every 3 years. So the next review is going to be next year.
I so believe what the federal government has just done is to give this temporary relief for the period while we are waiting for the time when there will be another round table negotiation on what the minimum wage will be from next year going forwardโ - @AyoOyalowo Spokesperson APC- PCC

President Tinubu is not heading to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment. He is heading to the Holy Land for Lesser Hajj (Umrah), like other Muslims across the world, to offer supplications for the country and commit his re-election journey into the hands of God.
This is not new... it is a regular practice among Muslims when they want to embark on any critical journey or attain a milestone.
Mr Sowore, in case you have temporary amnesia, Bola Ahmed Tinubu travelled to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah (Lesser Hajj) twice in 2022... first in April 2022, before the APC primary election, and again in late December 2022, before the presidential election. His prayers were answered on both occasions. It is only sensible to stick to a potent strategy, hence the President is going again.
On Saturday, the President was in Kaduna to flag off his re-election campaign. Yesterday, he received the former AfDB President, Akinwumi Adesina, in an audience and separately hosted the Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), Ola Awakan. Yesterday ,the President chaired the FEC meeting, where some consequential decisions were made.

When we say ASUU/ASUP and others have not gone on strike for almost three years under President Tinubu, thoughts rush to NELFUND as a major factor but the fact is that the relationship between this administration and unions across tertiary institutions has improved significantly.
- ASUU(Academic Staff Union of Universities): Signed 14th January, 2026. 40% pay increase, effective 1 Jan 2026 with implementation beginning from 10 Feb with N50bn Needs Assessment Fund released.
- SSANU(University Senior Staff): Signed 19th June, 2026. Agreement effective from 1 Jan 2026. Eight months of salary arrears released.
- NASU(Non Teaching Staff): Unveiled October 13, 2026. Non-Teaching Tools Allowance (CONTTA). Provided for from 1 Jan 2026.
- NAAT (Academic technologists):
Unveiled October 13, 2026. Non-Teaching Tools Allowance (CONTTA). Provided for from 1 Jan 2026.
