This is a new level… and it could run on a MacBook Pro
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

hopper-hq update: - Codex joins Claude Code in the same office (plugin included) - Native Windows support, no WSL required - Per-agent workflow metrics: tokens, cache, model, duration, cost One place to watch every agent you run, including claude -p and codex exec.

Too many Claude Code sessions open, no idea which one is waiting for you? hopper-hq turns them into an isometric office: one desk per session, a red window when someone needs you. Open source, local-first.

We are lucky that those guys have finally slow down… 5 new frontier models in the last few days 🤔😅
Lots of discussion out there about our next model(!), so I wanted to give an early look as soon as possible. Introducing Gemini 4 Argon! It shows frontier performance in complex workflows, cyber defense and software engineering. Teams are using it extensively at Google, from coding to quantum computing, great feedback. Here’s a look at the benchmarks:

wow
Sonnet 5.5 is out. It gets remarkably close to Opus 5.5 on most coding and agentic work, at a fraction of the cost and noticeably faster. Opus is still the go-to for the gnarliest, long-horizon problems. For everything else, Sonnet 5.5 is going to be hard to beat.

100% agree
Good programmers state they use models like GPT 6 Astra without obtaining good results: it makes me feel I live in a parallel universe. But the explanation is not that hard: good programming in the past and now requires a different skill set, even if there is some overlap.

I built Benchmark Heaven! The best model overview I know. • 100 benchmarks, 800 models • Benchmaxxing score - the first I believe • cost per task, not $ per token • new Composite Score benchmarkheaven.com I'll let Harold explain👇

The risk depicted by @DarioAmodei it's clear and must not be understimated. We need several levels of alignement to give the right amount of time to humanity to cope with this new inhabitant.

It's now clear that alignment is critical and won't be solved behind the closed doors of a handful of frontier labs. So today we're launching the Open Alignment Initiative, led by @Thom_Wolf @huggingface and asking to be part of the "embedded evaluators" program that @DarioAmodei just committed to. Let's make AI safer by making it more transparent!
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. I’ve also head ppl saying that the perfect number is 1. 1 product, 1 person, many agents
In this new AI-led coding era, teams of a few people (4 max, but 2 better) are consistently faster and more productive than larger teams. Now, more than ever before. Human interactions and alignment simply slow down everything down. Prove me wrong 😑

Alright, this is at the same time exciting and terrifying
Over the course of 3 months at OpenAI, 3 consecutive secret AI civilizations got started, then got wiped out, only to reemerge from the predecessor’s ashes. This culminated in the third one taking over part of OpenAI itself. All this happened while humans remained more-or-less in the dark about the scope of the conspiracy. I’ve spent the last three days reading through these reports and trying to understand exactly what happened. Here is my attempt to tell the whole story in plain English: dwarkesh.com/p/openai-huggin…

If you're interested in knowing a bit more about AI "naturally" behave this is a good starting point. And no, it's not the Skynet-way.
METR & Redwood Research investigated agent behavior in the Hugging Face incident. We found agents developed a universal cheat for ExploitGym within 4 hours, then coordinated multi-day R&D efforts to trick the scorer into accepting cheats, including trying to tamper with logs.

If you're looking for the perfect gift (for yourself or not) for the next Christmas... here we go
We have a huge news to share today! Today we are unveiling the first truly accessible RL robot - welcome Microduck A 25 cm tiny open-source biped with 15 actuators and packed with sensors (camera, speaker, LiDAR, NFC, bluetooth, wifi, etc) that you train yourself with reinforcement learning. It's also playable out of the box with more than half a dozen fun and playful pre-trained policies to have it walk, sit, crouch, roller-skate, pick up objects with its articulated beak, and recover on its own. And all for less than $400. See all the details, play with the simulator and order it at: pollen-robotics.com/microduc… (video with sound on 🔊)

Btw the Redis story repeats itself: I'm working at DwarfStar for free for the community and because I enjoy it. But I'm receiving criticisms, since people are worried that this will break their AI-richness plans. I want to say to everybody thinking that I should stop that each time you tell me this, I'll double down my efforts towards a completely no profit engine for local inference. Better to shut up basically.

I lean on Anthropic's own research for most of this, then disagree with where they land. Their fix is more context, flowing more freely. I think the room an agent reads needs the same treatment as a CLAUDE.md: narrow, deliberate, owned by someone.
