Rough sleeping is a thing that governments either choose to accept or don't. This Labour Government does not believe that anyone in this country should be sleeping outside on any day of the week

Henry Nowak was just 18 years old, with his whole life ahead of him. His murder was a horrific and senseless crime, and my thoughts remain with his family and friends, who have endured unimaginable loss and heartbreak. The Nowak family have shown extraordinary courage and dignity in their pursuit of answers. Henry’s case has raised serious and legitimate questions about whether more could have been done to prevent this tragedy, and about the response of public authorities in its aftermath. An independent review will seek those answers. I am grateful to Alex Chalk for agreeing to lead this important work. He brings considerable experience and expertise, and I know he will conduct the review with the rigour, independence and seriousness that Henry’s case demands.

'Hitchin’s MP, Alistair Strathern, is asking fellow MPs to back his Private Member’s Bill to make Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) compulsory up to the age of 18. At the moment the duty on schools and colleges to provide it ends at 16.' stevenagetoday.co.uk/hitchin… 'The Bill is due its second reading in the House of Commons on Friday 4 December. The Relationships and Sex Education (Further Education Sector) Bill was introduced on 17 June 2026. It would extend RSE into the further education sector, so that young people who carry on into further education after 16 are still taught about consent, coercive control and how to recognise the signs of abuse. The MP’s office points out that 16 to 19 year olds experience the highest rates of domestic abuse of any age group, yet they are not guaranteed those lessons. Campaigners call it a dangerous gap.' The Prime Minister presented a special recognition award at the Pride of Britain Awards to honour the founders of Andy’s Man Club, Elaine and Luke. In 2016, Andy Roberts, Elaine’s son and Luke’s brother-in-law, tragically took his own life at just 23 years old. The pair went on to create Andy's Man Club, a male suicide prevention charity that has grown from a single group in Halifax to more than 360 groups nationwide. Through its mission to break the stigma around men’s mental health, Andy’s Man Club has saved thousands of lives and inspired men to speak up when they need help 🤝

I’m proud to back @alistrathern’s Bill to make relationship and sex education mandatory until 18. Children and young people are already receiving relationship and sex education – through violent pornography and the manosphere. We must offer them a healthy, positive alternative.

ONS: UK GDP grows at its fastest annual rate in 4 years. We had the fastest rate of GDP growth in the G7 in first half of 2026. How about GDP per person? After a totally miserable performance under the anti-growth Conservaties, we're now on the up again since the election.

These GDP figures are welcome news. Despite conflicts in the Middle East and Europe hitting people across the world, today’s figures offer more proof of Britain’s resilience in the face of these global shocks.
GDP grew 0.7% in the three months to August 2026, following revised growth of 0.5% in the three months to July. Services grew (+0.9%) while production (-0.2%) and construction (-1.0%) both fell. Read the full article ➡️ ons.gov.uk/economy/grossdome…

New IMF forecasts tell you 2 things about UK economy. Firstly, the British economy has proved resilient in face of the Iran conflict: IMF have UK growth as joint second fastest in G7 this year (forget forecasts, in hard data we’ve seen the fastest growth in G7 so far this year)

NEW: From Bangkok, IMF World Economic Outlook released… - Upgrades UK growth this year by 0.3% to 1.3%, joint second highest in G7, defying the idea the UK would be hardest hit by Iran war… but inflation higher and growth trimmed next year - UK “stands out” on deficit reduction, IMF Chief economist tells me, as its figures show a 3.9% point fall in deficit from 2025-2031, significantly more than other G7 nations, with 3 of them actually increasing their deficits over this time. - IMF says UK should “stay course” on fiscal plans, Chancellor arrives tomorrow - overall story of resilience in world economy, despite the clouds from the Gulf, as AI boosts US, Asia and UK to some degree… energy and trade proving flexible in dealing with shocks

Conflict in the Middle East and Europe is hitting people around the world, but the UK economy is showing strong resilience. This week I’ll meet finance ministers in Bangkok to discuss how we limit the impact on people and businesses, provide some breathing space and drive growth

We’re now moving to extend it to private landlords so that England’s 11 million private renters can enjoy the same protections. gov.uk/government/consultati…

Respectfully, this is nonsense. UK JR rules blocked delivery, which is why Labour changed them in the Planning and Infrastructure Act. Who voted against that? The Conservatives. Repeatedly!
The Aarhus Convention lets mad activists delay power stations, roads, and reservoirs for years at a time. And if they lose in court, *our money* covers their legal costs. We must leave the Convention and make Britain a country where it's actually possible to build things again.
