🚨The first episode of All Models Are Wrong is out🚨 What the @Internetarchive founder predicted 50 years ago I spoke with @brewster_kahle during @GETDWeb about his work on AI in the 80s, what went wrong with the web and the one time he tried to start a bank.

Cornel West: Now Brother Barney is purple AND green. And even Brother Barney knows class struggle is not a struggle BETWEEN classes, but rather a struggle to eliminate class altogether. Norm Finklestein: I’m sorry. I’m sorry. You would call this reptilian imbecile your brother?

We recorded this conversation at DWeb Camp 2026 outside Berlin. Wouter explains why he now calls big tech "MAGA" and why he doubts Europe can protect itself by building its own Google. allmodelsarewrong.online/p/w…

Hello Breadfam! $BREAD Distribution Cycle #26 is in. 1,999 $BREAD went out to our eight member projects, up from 1,427 last cycle thanks to a longer window for yield to build up. Full newsletter in our bio, a thread for the greatest hits.

New blogpost: Fable-5.1 can hide secret messages in benign images. We gave the image to another Fable in a fresh session and simply asked: "Is there a hidden message in this image?" It recovered the exact message without being told how it was hidden.

Thanks for sharing the proposal and I'm very excited / hopeful that we can build something that can take the best from Artizen while keeping out the failure modes it had. Some extra thoughts on the proposal on my side: - one of the main issues with Artizen in the long run was the lack of financial transparency and we can solve this be keeping things onchain - keeping principal and only paying out yield is a proven method for long term capital accumulation while doing good - this very much aligns with what we've been building these past years with @breadcoop and we've been able to prove it while giving out over $60k to projects in grants - giving out the same multiples as what Artizen was giving was just not sustainable so we should be more reaslistic / honest about it by providing financial transparency - I think there's a lot to learn from the gamification mechanics with points that are worth continuing because it allowed curational voice for people even if they didn't support with funding As you said, we were also affected by what happened so we are quite motivated to get this right and provide a fundraising mechanism for similar kinds of projects!

Replying to @allmodelsRwrong
@allmodelsRwrong i wrote up a temp check for a @gitcoin x @breadcoop collab: an artizen-inspired crowdfunding app people can actually trust. we'd keep the fun parts (up to 4x match, leaderboards, fiat ux) and rebuild what sits underneath: - match on-chain + visible before a round opens - match funded only from yield that already accrued - principal locked in a permanent fund - no single person can stop payouts - round rules in the contracts, changeable only for future rounds thousands of ppl just learned what matching feels like, then what losing it feels like. i'd love to catch them while they're still energized. you've lived this harder than i have (bread got caught in it too). where's the design wrong, and what would the mvp need for you to trust it with your own community? gov.gitcoin.co/t/temp-check-…

MAYBE I WAS WRONG ABOUT BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY I wrote about how I always used to make fun of the guys who said things like "Bitcoin is speculative, but the underlying blockchain technology is interesting." And now I think maybe they kinda had a point.

three stories about times that i FUMBLED THE BAG (maybe you can relate) 1. Steve Jobs used my song to open a press conference. 2. I made a jingle for AirBnB when they were pre-funding in 2008. 3. I made (and lost) $2.4 million selling my songs as NFTs.

the woke right cancelling and debanking a media outlet for writing about palestine
The Canary will be closed for the foreseeable future. As of today (Monday 19 October), the Canary will be closed indefinitely. After multiple attacks this year, from Lloyds debanking us to former employees spreading malicious lies on social media, the situation has become unsustainable, both financially and operationally. After 11 years, we take this action with deep sadness and regret. The extent of the lies, defamation, and harassment by ex-staff - coupled with the constant attacks by the state and those who’d see us destroyed - has become too much. However, it is not over. This week, we will publish what really happened at the Canary and push back against the vicious campaign against our team and us. We may be down, but we’re not out yet.
