"Teaching is a humbling and deeply educational experience, and I cannot recommend it enough!" --Jon Gjengset. Thank you, Jon, for giving your time, expertise, and energy to write a masterclass on Idiomatic Rust. I've always admired your knack for teaching and hope to do the same. I just finished studying Rust for Rustaceans by @jonhoo. After studying the Rust Book, like @dtolnay said in the preface, I noticed a knowledge gap between concepts explored in TRPL (The Rust Programming Language) Book (a.k.a., the Rust Book) and terminology in the std library and Rust Reference. I wanted to close that gap, to truly understand, because I've come to LOVE Rust. I wanted to leave no stone unturned. I found the best 2nd book after the Rust Book (goes without saying, I highly recommend). As advised, in Chapter 13, Jon, I'll learn by teaching too. In the coming days, I'll share blog posts and hopefully hold live sessions where I debunk the myth that "Rust is too hard." Chipping at topics bit by bit. It used to be that if you wanted to learn the inner workings of computer programming that'd tell you to learn C. Today, I'd tell you to learn Rust. Rust teaches you to appreciate the power you wield when you write, build and run a computer program. Yes, it is complex, but "complex is better than complicated." It might take some getting used to, yes, but with time and focus anyone can master the language and that's what I hope to do. PS. Thank you @OReillyMedia for access to a plethora of golden technical resources. Thank you @timoreilly. That's two Rust books in 3 months! Grateful.
I've finished studying the Rust Book 🦀 (also known as The Rust Programming Language Book) by Carol Nichols and Steve Klabnik. Precisely, the interactive version by C.S. Brown University, (also known as the Rust Book experiment) which is available online for free via the link: rust-book.cs.brown.edu/exper…

I find it funny when people think pastors get rich exploiting poor people off their offerings and tithes😂 I work in church leadership. That’s not even enough to run Sunday services and pay church staff. Most churches are carried on the backs of a select rich 5%. These people solely donate about 80% of every church project. I watch them well. You can never see them broke! There’s something about this God I can’t explain.🤍

Precisely, software engineers do not write code by hand anymore.
Actual software engineer here. Vibe coding is when you use AI to write software without manually reviewing every single line of code. Instead, you rely on empirical tests, formal verification, and static analysis to verify that your code is correct. Rewrites like the Discord rewrite are prime targets for vibe coding because you can easily verify them. Just take the old code, run it with a ton of random inputs (this is called fuzzing), and compare the output with the new code. Your rewrite is done when the output is always the same. As for how you know it's vibe coded? Everything is vibe coded these days. Software engineers don't write code by hand anymore. Instead, we herd clankers writing code.

As an actual web developer... all this anti-ai coding shit is performative and mostly from people who have never wrote a line of code
PLEASE THIS LOOKS SO SO GOOD DONT BE VIBE CODED DONT BE VIBE CODED

GOOD DAY, MR PRESIDENT: NIGERIANS DESERVE ACCOUNTABILITY Good day, Mr President. I congratulate you on spending a night in one of Nigeria’s states outside Lagos and Abuja. I hope you enjoyed the warmth, hospitality, and delicious cuisine of Akwa Ibom, which I am sure is even better than those of the destinations where you have spent over 260 days outside Nigeria since coming into office. I sincerely hope this visit will inspire you to travel to the remaining 33 states of the federation, spend time with the people and, more importantly, explain what your administration has done with the ₦15.8 trillion saved from the removal of fuel subsidy, the over $100 billion you have borrowed, the increased revenues accruing to the government from taxing Nigerians, and the additional government revenues which your administration celebrated last year as having surpassed its target. Nigerians deserve to know how many that were pulled out of poverty within this period, how many out-of-school children were returned to school, and how many functional primary healthcare centres you have built. They also deserve to know how much electricity supply has improved, especially given your promise that if you do not fix power, Nigerians should not vote for you. They deserve an explanation of how you have secured the country, which still ranks among the most terrorised countries in the world. Mr President, Nigerians deserve answers. They deserve to know what has been done with the resources entrusted to your government. The New Nigeria we want to build will be based on accountability, transparency, and the physical, measurable impact of our public resources on the lives of citizens. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

If you're still using wrangler.jsonc for your workers, you're literally one command away from using a glorious cloudflare.config.ts $ cf migrate This gives you (read: your agents) access to ~3000 operations that you would normally use the dashboard for.

I would go to war for Elon Musk. Not because he's perfect, but because I believe in what he's building, what he represents, and the future he's fighting to create. People like Elon don't come around twice.

Here's what will happen: For the next two years the Dems will try to: 1) Tank the economy 2) Push to halt all AI development They don't actually want to stop AI development, I'll get back to that point below. Trump will negotiate on many things (the war, immigration, etc) but he won't "halt all AI development". Dems will push anti-AI bills/laws and Trump will veto. Then in 2028, the Dems will blame Republicans and AI for the sluggish economy, inflation, jobs, etc. This will be their platform. If they win in '28, they will reverse course. They go ALL IN on AI, but they'll do what they did with social media. Censorship, regulation of information, social credit scores to gate usage, etc. We will become the dystopian speech regulated nightmare that the modern left so desperately wants. The Dems aren't anti-AI. They just want total control of its capabilities.
Top of the Democratic agenda on day 1 needs to be a pause on advanced AI development, regulation of this out of control industry, and a ban on artificial superintelligence.

Americans, open your eyes before they pull the rug from under your feet...if the process hasn't begun already. Open. Your. Eyes.

This is f*cking insane. Elon Musk emailed his team: "Andrej is the #2 computer vision mind on Earth, after Ilya Sutskever" At 15, Karpathy left Slovakia for Toronto. He studied under Geoffrey Hinton, did his PhD under Fei-Fei Li, and spent 17 years teaching machines to see In 2012 he wrote that computer vision was "really, really far away" Slovakia → Toronto → Hinton → Stanford → OpenAI → Tesla → The Man Everyone Learns From 8 minutes on how one person got there Bookmark it Then read the "Harness, Loops, Graphs" guide below ↓
Your agent is not autonomous You are its loop You check every step because nothing else in the system can I broke down the 7 levels from babysitting agents to running a fleet ↓

Background subagents in Claude Code now use less of your usage limit. A running subagent updates its status line every 30 seconds, and each update used to re-read its whole conversation. Now Haiku 5.5 writes it from short notes instead, so each update costs about 99% less.

We will all be learning in coming weeks & months, that most human-made software: ▫️ Was really slow ▫️ Had many security vulnerabilities ▫️ Was under-specified and incorrect AI will rewrite it all. Many times. It will make it fast, cost-efficient, and secure. It will think about failure modes we couldn't wrap our heads around. It will prove, formally verify, load test, harden. It will turn memory-unsafe foundations into robust, optimized ones. If you ask, it'll thoroughly document it, teach you about it, make diagrams, animations, and slide decks. In many ways, we are witnessing the true birth of software engineering.

Companies in Nigeria are not technology first. No public status pages. No security disclosure. No public changelogs. No post Morterms. No serious engineering articles/blogs of the work they do internally. Api docs too: Only by the grace of God it's complete They just want to do business & maximize profit. And is that a bad thing ? Not necessarily, I am just of the opinion that modern times just need modern measures/approach.
