Check it out, #altgov! @alt_FEC has received the AOK from the Office of Special Counsel to #Resist on all things @FEC. #FirstAmendment FTW!

It's no secret that the FEC is dysfunctional. For years its hearing room has been where the work of campaign finance oversight goes to die (or, more accurately, get bludgeoned to death via 3-3 vote). But tomorrow, finally, someone's actually asking questions!

The Committee on House Administration is holding an oversight hearing tomorrow at 10:15 AM, and all six Commissioners will be there to testify. You can watch the live stream here: youtube.com/live/Po3jvGO7ib4…

It's probably too much to hope that this leads to real change at the FEC, but it's a reminder that America is watching. You should watch too, and learn about the six people Congress and the President have chosen to enforce (/not) the laws our politicians are supposed to follow.

To be clear, Dickerson wants to upend decades of Commission practice so he and his anti-enforcement fellows can micromanage and block even the most trivial of investigative steps.

When a person tells you who they are, believe them: this proposal shows not only disdain for the abilities and motives of career civil servants at @FEC, but for the statutes and regulations that give the Commission its law enforcement authority.

It has been said that a person is the average of the five people they spend the most time with. Based on her @FEC precedent, I think I've found three of @DaraLind's:

It's funny how "bipartisanship" at the @FEC only ever seems to go one direction...

As we approach the end of another quarter, know all those political fundraising emails you get around now telling you to "Contribute now before the deadline!!!!"? They're nonsense.

The deadline relates to committee reporting obligations, not to when and whether they can take your contribution. The deadline only matters because the final number for the quarter makes the committee look good or bad. So make your contributions on your timeline, not theirs!

Ha, ha, I get it, @SeanJCooksey! Your job at the @FEC is to enforce the law and protect our nation’s campaign-finance system from corruption but, instead, you ‘see no evil’! It’s funny because it’s true!

Man, it’s weird how someone who’s supposed to be a top election lawyer doesn’t understand how nominations to the @FEC work. DM me, Marc – you’ll feel better about all this once you know what’s going on.

It’s an uphill fight. @EllenLWeintraub of the Federal Elections Commission may have the most thankless job in Washington. @TheTakeaway @prx @PRI
If political campaigns are going digital, and regulators are having trouble catching up, how do U.S. voters have a chance against misinformation and deepfakes? 'Politics with @amyewalter' on @TheTakeaway explores this topic and more. wnyc.news/5pu6c

The EPA Administrator is intentionally misleading the American public about actions that affect human health and the environment.
