it's interesting how the role of 'queer' as an adjective has shifted and how that impacts adjective ordering.
in victorian literature it's mostly an 'opinion' adjective whereas today it's more a 'qualifier'
we order adjectives as quantity, opinion, size, age, shape, colour, origin, material, qualifier and since the meaning of 'queer' shifted over time the way we would place it in a sentence does too. so 'queer old tavern' becomes 'old queer tavern'.
