It's coming up to a year since I joined @JBARisk and I've been enjoying my "extrusion" from the lower crust to the surface to work on flood risk.

.@SAS you sent me this text but we are unable to rebook online, after spending 3 hours on the phone on hold I was told we can’t do anything until you cancel our flight (which only gives 24 hours notice). In the meantime seats on other airlines are filling up fast.

Feeling rather despondent that after 3 years of living in Norway, being loyal to @SAS and being a Gold member, we are unable to rebook onto an SAS flight operated by City Link that will still fly despite the strike.

When we finally get nice warm weather for running in Tromsø, they cancel the race 😒

We're developing a fieldwork code of conduct and we want to include a section on ethical geological sampling. I've seen plenty of sample specific guidelines in the past but my google searches just keep sending me to general code of conduct guidelines. Can anyone help?

Back in Tromsø after 3 weeks of geology in Europe. It started with 2 weeks of successful deformation experiments in Orléans and then onto Vienna for the long awaited in person #EGU22. Loved catching up and making new geology friends and learning about their new science 🙌

Thanks for the shout out @ajk_talcsrocks and thanks to all the fantastic speakers for making the deformation processes session so fab!
A day late, but thanks to @LTokle and @amicialee (and others!) for convening yesterday’s #EGU22 session on deformation processes from grain to planetary scales… lots of fun with glaucophane!!! (cc: @myLONNItE)

Well this is annoying - if you want to check out abstracts for a current session at #EGU22 and you’re even sitting in the correct room, you can’t dismiss this box and read anyones abstract…

Can’t quite believe the deformation experiment numbered 666 that I started on Friday 13th finished today with no issues on the ‘haunted’ Griggs apparatus in Orléans 😲🙌

Two sentences: 1. This is my first winter/spring in Tromsø with ski tourists. 2. Over the last 2 weeks there’s been more people involved in avalanches (some fatal) than most of the previous 2 years. Don’t push it in the mountains even if you’re only here for a short holiday.

Nothing reminds me why I usually fly @SAS rather than @Fly_Norwegian than a midnight cancellation for my 8am flight and then being unable to rebook so I can make my connection in Oslo 🙄 Just trying to get back to for my graduation that I’m apparently cursed from ever attending.

Can I do my emails whilst I have the mens Olympic downhill on my second screen? Definitely not, that was carnage to watch!

Info for fellow @SEELeeds grads 🎓that haven’t been able to attend a graduation ceremony. Our rescheduled ceremony is on 30th March at 4pm, sign up here students.leeds.ac.uk/info/10… As far as I know this info hasn’t been circulated and you’ll only find out if you check the page.

I don’t think this plane is avoiding the de-icing station

And just after I tweeted this I saw that @EuroGeosciences has extended the deadline to Friday at 13:00 CET.
Final few hours to get your abstract into #EGU22, so if you’re thinking “hmm where should I submit my abstract that involves deformation microstructures?”, then look no further than TS2.1 - Deformation processes and texture analysis meetingorganizer.copernicus.…

Sometime between Christmas and New Year our paper on dissolution-precipitation creep of mafic rocks was accepted 🥳 The proofs aren't ready yet but you can still read all about it here doi.org/10.1016/j.jsg.2021.1…
