Wow. Lorne's supporters shouting "GO AWAY" at journalists as staff try to shut down questions.
Lorne Doerkson meets with volunteers and candidate Alex McMillan in Eby’s riding of Vancouver-Point Grey. It was supposed to be a photo op but a reporter asked Doerkson how he responds to Eby calling him a “Trojan horse” for extreme candidates. Here’s what he said:

Surrey deserves leaders with a vision who show up and deliver. I’m proud to keep building a stronger community.
Vote Amna Shah, BC NDP! Advance voting until Oct. 21. #BCVotes voiceonline.com/ndp-candidat…
Doerkson showed last night that he refuses to be up front with British Columbians. If he won’t tell people how much more they’ll pay for car insurance, or how he’ll pay for his fantasy promises, how could he possibly be trusted to lead this province?
If you give away billions in revenue, and add billions in spending, where do you make up the difference? Here is a review of the $5 billion in unexplained, unfunded BC Conservatives promises. bcndp.ca/releases/conservati…

Zeeshan - it's so disappointing to see you defending Katy Merrifield instead of joining the calls to remove her.
This isn't one post from her, it's a pattern. Why are you the only candidate defending her while Lorne Doerkson has been silent for 48 hours? Where is he?
Our Leader took swift and decisive action removing a candidate with abhorrent comments towards our community this week. I commend him for this.
David Eby is a sad and desperate man who first called a cynical snap election while our party was in the middle of a leadership change. Now he’s trying to remove our campaign manager because we are winning and he is losing.
I want to be clear that the language used in Ms. Merrifield's original post from several months ago was unacceptable.
She also swiftly acknowledged that and made it clear her reaction was informed by her past sexual trauma.
The distinction between the two situations is very clear. The fired candidate was inciting violence, Ms. Merrifield was reacting to violence.
Islam teaches us to respond to anger with peace and to forgive when people act out of ignorance or rage. When someone makes a mistake and seeks forgiveness, we walk that path together.
For too long, we have let people divide us, when our work is to bring people together. I am running with the BC Conservatives because I want Surrey and British Columbia to thrive. In Surrey City Centre, I hear about overwhelmed hospitals, families worried about shootings, moms finding drug paraphernalia at the park, and business owners who have no more taxes to give. That is where my focus will stay.
May Allah grant us all patience, understanding, and softer hearts. Let's move forward together.

Absolutely horrific racism from this Conservative candidate.
Attacking the Pakistani community as "a sh*thole," joking about killing protestors, celebrating white supremacist figures.
There's only one way for Lorne Doerkson to respond: fire this candidate immediately.
Lorne Doerkson wants people to trust him. But he refused to answer a basic question: what will he cut?
Thank you Amelia for your bravery, courage, and passion. Proud of you and everything you accomplished for your community.
After careful consideration I have made the difficult decision to no longer pursue my candidacy in Penticton-Summerland with the BC NDP.
This was not an easy decision.
When I got into politics, I did so because I wanted to help my community. Every decision I have made along the way has been with my constituents’ best interests first, no matter the consequences for me.
This includes crossing the floor from an independent, to the BC NDP.
Crossing the floor was incredibly difficult and carried considerable consequences for me personally, professionally, and politically. I have been threatened, spat at, disowned, and abused in ways both public and private.
My primary reason for crossing the floor was to join a credible and stable party in light of the fact that the party I was elected with was not those things. Because the NDP was the most reasonable major party in the House, I knew this would afford my riding better representation than remaining independent. In addition, I wanted to prevent an unnecessary election/ the government falling, which I saw as a bad outcome in the current economic and political climate. In the wake of the tragic death of Amshen Joan Phillip, my presence in the NDP was the only thing keeping the government from falling.
When I crossed the floor, I did not receive a larger salary, position, nor any promises or discussions of such things. The only discussions that were had were about my fit with the party and my ability to better represent my community from the government side. I am dedicated to my constituents, not any political party.
I am confident that I did the right thing for the right reasons when I made that decision. Not only that, but I was able to marshal better resources for my community during the Bald Range wildfire because I was able to access the deep bench of seasoned staff available to me through the BC NDP. I thank them for their hard work during a difficult time.
Seeing the way everyday people became heroes during the Bald Range wildfire has inspired me and solidified my conviction that people are basically good, and times of great difficulty can bring out the best in us. The first responders, firefighters, BC Wildfire, RCMP, healthcare workers, RDOS and city staff, local volunteers and everyone else who helped, are heroes. I am humbled by their courage and grateful for their service.
Politics is hard and it’s not always fair. I’m proud of the job that I have done over the last two years, and I would have liked to continue.
But it’s not about me and my individual wants and desires. It’s about ensuring this community and this province are protected from the kind of right-wing, Trump style populism and grave dysfunction on full display on the other side.
Because I crossed the floor so recently, I am unable to marshal the kind of campaign necessary to give the NDP a fair shot in this snap election. I am stepping aside not because I want to quit, but to make way for a more winnable candidate in these circumstances.
Serving the last two years as your MLA has been the honour and privilege of my life. I am grateful to all those who supported me in the last three campaigns I have done, and grateful to the community for placing your trust in me.
My path in politics is not over. I will continue to fight for my community, my province, and my country in another capacity.
My full confidence continues to rest with Premier Eby and his caucus. While the economic policies need work, this is being done and can be done. It’s fixable. The problems with the B.C. Conservatives are not fixable, maybe not ever and certainly not on the timeline British Columbia needs.
David, thank you for the opportunity you gave me. I’ll be fighting for the team from the other side.
Everyone, please vote BC NDP.
Many thanks,
Amelia 🧡

This raises a basic question about the BC Conservatives: who would actually be Premier?
Their own rules say it’s up to their pro-Trump party members.
Well this somehow creates more uncertainty about BC Conservative leadership.
So what they're saying: there is no guarantee that Lorne would stay as Premier even if he won the election. They have to ask permission from the party's Trump faction that just voted for Findlay 4 months ago.
DOERKSON TO REMAIN LEADER IF ELECTED PREMIER
The Board of Directors sets out the Party's position on its leadership should Interim Leader Lorne Doerkson become Premier.
When Mr. Doerkson leads the Party to victory on October 24, he will remain Leader. The Board will pursue the appropriate means under the Party's Constitution and Bylaws and the Societies Act to give effect to this intention.
A Premier chosen by British Columbians deserves the certainty of leading his party. This amendment will provide it.
Board of Directors,
Conservative Party of British Columbia
Great news for Surrey! We’re investing more than $33 million to improve health care for people in Surrey. Surrey Memorial Hospital will see expanded access to emergency care and medical imaging, while seniors and families will see additional community day and overnight services.
Summer 2026 was truly special. From celebrating with our community at events in Surrey to experiencing the FIFA World Cup here at home, it was a summer filled with great memories and conversations with our community.
Thank you, Surrey, for making this summer unforgettable!
It was an honour to attend the First Responders Gala and celebrate the incredible people who dedicate their lives to serving and protecting our communities.
To all of our first responders: thank you for your courage, compassion and commitment to keeping British Columbians safe.
Standing alongside tens of thousands of people at Recovery Day BC was an incredible reminder that no one has to walk their journey alone. Between the live music, inspiring stories, and community support, the energy was unreal.
Recovery is real, and it’s always worth celebrating.
Celebrating Janmashtami was a wonderful way to spend Sunday morning at Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir.
Had an amazing time with everyone who came together to celebrate with such joy and devotion.
Today, we celebrate the workers who keep our communities strong.
Labour Day is a chance to recognize the contributions of working people across British Columbia.
Thank you to everyone whose hard work helps build a stronger, more affordable, BC. Happy Labour Day!
