Really cool video of 24 hours of flights over Sydney in just over 90 seconds. Cool thing is that you can buys these as a printed picture to frame and put on your wall!

🚨Melbourne says goodbye to Qantas’s A380 and hello again to London! But there's a catch: it's impossible for Qantas to extend Perth-London to Melbourne without withdrawing the A380 from Melbourne-Los Angeles! We explain how and why! analyticflying.com/p/melbour…

Happy IATA NW26/27 (SC/158) to those who celebrate! One of the most significant in Australia for some time with WSI opening to passenger flights today! A lot happening for Melbourne incl Finnair's new direct flights, Qantas's direct London returning & BA returning in Jan!

Can the billionaire businesswoman succeed where others have failed by taking on Australia’s powerful airline duopoly, Qantas and Virgin Australia, with her own budget carrier? ebx.sh/zVxvdp

Update from IASC: Qantas and Virgin until 5 November for their arguments, or as the IASC put it "address the additional public benefit criteria"!
🇮🇩🇦🇺What will IASC do with expanded Indonesia bilateral capacity? 🔴5,180 seats/week available: QF/JQ wants 4,539 & VA wants 5,086 🔴Favour new routes: PER-CGK & WSI-DPS (QF/JQ) 🔴Favour airlines on routes they don't fly: PER-DPS (VA) 🔴Then make numbers add up (we get 5,162)⬇️

This is a sleight of hand from Sir Tim: ⬆️Revenue is up because ticket prices are up ⬆️Ticket prices are up because fuel prices are up ⬇️And capacity is down so sharing fixed costs over fewer passengers, all while margins are declining
Emirates is at 91% of pre-Iran-conflict capacity, with revenues above last year despite missile attacks and airspace closures, Tim Clark said at Routes World 2026. aviationweek.com/air-transpo…

Tonight's QF94 LAX-MEL is the last westbound A380 flight on the route & tomorrow's QF93 MEL-LAX is QF's last scheduled A380 flight from MEL! We've seen lots of commentary ascribing change to declining demand, but it's actually something entirely different. Details later today!

It’s August 2018 and Virgin Australia have just announced an order of 10x Boeing 737-10 with deliveries beginning in 2022! While certification is a major milestone, it’s touch-and-go whether Virgin will eventually begin receiving them before the end of 2027!
Certified: 🔟 The 737-10 has received FAA certification, marking a major milestone for Boeing and the development team that brought the final member of the 737 MAX family to this point. ✈️Strong fuel efficiency for denser markets ✈️Greater flexibility for airlines serving high-demand routes ✈️Commonality across the 737 MAX family Congratulations to #TeamBoeing and our partners who developed the 737-10 over many years, and guided it through extensive testing, evaluation and certification. Thank you to our customers who are building the future with the 737-10 and 737 MAX family. More: boeing.mediaroom.com/2026-10…

🚨Virgin's application for expanded Aus-Indo capacity is in! 🔴Incremental MEL, PER & SYD to DPS increases proposed 🔴Big move on PER-DPS where VA don't have any presence 🔴Since applications exceed available capacity, QF/JQ & VA will have to motivate their proposals & IASC will run a competitive process!

There, fixed it 🤣🤣 "Travellers flying into the old Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport could face taxi fares reaching almost $200 to get to Penrith, with pressure now growing on the NSW government to introduce fixed prices."

What are we working on at the moment? In June we published a detailed analysis of Qantas's A321XLR entry into service. Now it's time to have a look at the A220. With more data at our disposal, we're taking a look at reliability & network strategy! analyticflying.com/p/qantass…

Lufty are being clever telling the market they're funding TAP purchase from available cash-on-hand. It's technically true, their financial reports tell us how they're generating that cash & it's not through excellent operational performance! Over last 18m they've increased fleet size by 5, but leased aircraft by 14 meaning they're refinancing unencumbered aircraft through SLB transactions. 1H26 report was pretty direct. Basically, they're pawning several B787s to buy TAP!

Still no news from Virgin Australia yet on their (expected) counter application for the new Australia-Indonesia capacity. IASC set a deadline of 19 October, so we should be hearing from them any day now!
And there we have it, Qantas & Jetstar want nearly all the additional Indonesia seats: 🔴New daily Perth-Jakarta 🔴Increase Melbourne-Jakarta & Bali to daily 🔴New daily Brisbane-Bali 🟠New daily Western Sydney-Bali
