Why don't we at TypeSafe call Jev a decision model? If you think of Jev's questions as making *decisions*, I believe you'll use it at the wrong layer of abstraction and your reliability will suffer. I wrote all about this on our site πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡

When our friends at @joinsauna needed a solution that could give every app generated by their agents its own database, and would scale to millions of databases, they came to @tursodatabase. What could you do if you had a system with that level of scaling? Every conversation, every interaction, always logged. And the cherry on top ? With Turso's sync technology, the database is just a SQLite file, and can be replicated wherever the users are. Fast, nimble, and always available context that scales as your fleet grows. Make more informed decisions when choosing hosted Postgres providers πŸ’š
DBArena is a site that benchmarks hosted Postgres providers. Pick a compute size and see which one handles the most transactions, which gives you the most per dollar, and which responds fastest. Supabase sponsors DBArena. Learn more β†’ supabase.com/blog/introducin…

One of the most powerful features of @supabase Compute, that you only realize when you use it, is the direct integration with all other services. Here's a demo of a Durable Harness using Pi durable, spawning instances, persisting data, broadcasting status in Realtime... it's all there built with supabase skills. And a bit of @tursodatabase in the mix because why not

Santa now takes calls on @supabase Compute πŸŽ… He keeps the whole call in one long-running process, the elves are real workers pulling letters from Postgres, and a little private ffmpeg studio with no URL films the gift! And when Compute naps, the elves fall asleep too!

I like to look at claims like this in case I can improve Ghostty. I grabbed your source and immediately spotted the issue: your read loop overwrites a 64 KiB ring. Everything older is discarded unparsed per tick. You're faster because you're not actually terminal emulating. It means the number isn't a throughput number. In a kitten benchmark run at the rate you're claiming, roughly 6.6 MB arrives per 60 Hz tick and 64 KiB of it gets parsed. You're read(2)-ing 100% of the data and parsing about 1% of it. There are other minor issues (a small fixed scrollback in a preallocated ring buffer, no grapheme clustering, throwing away data like OSC 8 URIs, etc.), but the major one is simply that you're discarding ~99% of the input. For plain text, e.g. your cat benchmark, the final screen ends up looking right, but the scrollback is missing 99% of the file and each retained chunk starts mid-line. As soon as there are escape sequences in the dropped spans, your emulator is fully out of sync and invalid: a cut inside a CSI prints the parameters as text, and any SGR, mode, title, or alt-screen change in the gap is just... gone. FYI, this is why I don't like when people point at refterm as a terminal benchmark. refterm implements a TINY subset of what a terminal emulator must support, it's closer to a fast file reader, not a terminal emulator. I also don't mean any shade by this. I like to look at technology objectively to try to learn something and improve my own craft and work. So I'm sharing what I found. I modified your code very slightly to parse on every full buffer (rather than per tick). And the results are attached. Both use main commit in each repo at the time of this post. Note the graph is in log scale, the discrepancy between performance for things like Kitty images is measured in GB/s.

OrioleDB is now in public beta, on every Supabase plan. It changes how Postgres stores your table rows, so in most cases they don’t bloat as your data changes. Learn more β†’ supabase.com/blog/orioledb-p…

@supabase Compute + Openworkflow by @jamescmartinez powers durable workflows all without going to a third party. We have a repo that showcases compute's ability to stay up with no timeouts as it writes a row every 30 seconds. Super excited for people to build with it πŸ’ͺ github.com/supabase/openwork…
