What I don't understand about this Global IT outage through CrowdStrike is how they rolled out software updates. Typically, you would roll these out incrementally to 10%, then 50%, and when everything is fine, to 100% of the users. It seems that this hasn't happened here.
Assuming the Crowdstrike Falcon issues are affecting British Public services too. Interesting to see how this all pans out in the next few hours.
⚠️ We are currently experiencing widespread IT issues across our entire network. Our IT teams are actively investigating to determine the root cause of the problem.
We are unable to access driver diagrams at certain locations, leading to potential short-notice cancellations, particularly on the Thameslink and Great Northern networks.
You can check if your online service is down and potentially affected on downdetector.co.uk

We're hiring AI engineers at Retool as part of a new team we're building.
We believe Retool will be the fastest, AI-powered developer inner loop.
Our primitives like components, logic, databases, and storage make us positioned to build the future of AI-driven programming. 🧵
I would not recommend @BritishGasHelp / @BritishGas to anyone. Been waiting almost two months to get a simple fix to my account. Terrible customer service. Lots of promises, no results.

When I saw this 👇 tweet I had to integrate @retool with @motherduck - MotherDuck makes it super easy to setup a JDBC connection to your instance. This gives so many opportunities for DuckDB users who want to supercharge their Retool applications! 🐥

Watch @mehd_io discuss this trend with examples from @streamlit , @evidence_dev, and @RillData with @duckdb / MotherDuck 🦆

Setting this up is not super hard. Follow the JDBC connection guide we provide here: docs.retool.com/data-sources… and download the JDBC driver for DuckDB here: duckdb.org/docs/api/java.htm…

Honestly, @retool is very very hard to hate.
Loving it for so many reason, will even more while I fall into its rabbit hole of simplicity with almost everything you would want.
One of my prefered tool.
Bravo !
Love using @raycastapp! This is my #RaycastWrapped for the year
Do you love optimising JavaScript and working with browsers? Check out this awesome role we’re hiring for at Retool 👇

As you can imagine, the challenges here are very real. @retool is browser-based IDE and runtime and of course there's no appetite for latency in any developer's toolchain. Decades of a local-first development model have set the baseline expectation and Retool has to work hard to meet and exceed that expectation.
We can't limit ourselves to the obvious stuff — this kind of work requires nailing the fundamentals but then looking for the non-obvious, ambitious work at the bleeding edge of what's possible. A lot of "sure we've done it this way forever but time to rethink this from the ground up" style thinking.
There's a set of hidden challenges here as well: @retool is a horizontal platform. The capabilites are awesome — you can rapidly build just about anything. Which means our builders will indeed build just about anything. It's up to us help guide our builders into pit of success — whatever you build on @retool should feel fast, lightweight, responsive, etc. That's no easy feat but with the right kind of investment, it's an opportunity we can deliver on.
Finally, as a managed platform, we have a chance to make things faster and faster over time without our customers having to lift a finger. That's a pretty neat spot to be in: "Good morning, your app is now 2x faster, enjoy." 💖
