As of midnight tonight we are on strike 332/365.
91% were forced to vote YES for a strike.
It did not have to be this way.
We hate to do this. It is breaking our hearts.

Andrew Hartman, a history professor at Illinois State University, described the battle over critical race theory as typical of the culture wars, where "the issue itself is not always the thing driving the controversy." trib.al/vjcviMc

"There’s a long history of conservatives in the United States thinking that the public schools are in the thrall of left-wing educators and even political operatives who are looking to indoctrinate American children on the public dime."

In other words, the legislation that conservatives want to pass in Ohio concerning CRT does the exact opposite of what they want to accomplish, in that it would require us to teach most of the founding generation of the US was composed of spineless hypocrites. 5/5
Same goes for Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, etc. And for everyone who voted to ratify a Constitution that allowed enslavement. 4/
So, if a student were to ask, say, why did George Washington own other human beings, by law, we’d have to answer that George Washington “deviated, betray[ed], or fails[d] to live up to the authentic founding principles of the United States” 3/
"With respect to their relationship to American values, slavery and racism are anything other than deviations from, betrayals of, or failures to live up to the authenticfounding principles of the United States, which include liberty and equality.” 2/
I guess there’s a silver lining to Ohio’s bill to ban critical race theory, which if passed would prohibit the teaching that "One race or sex is inherently superior to another race or sex”: It would be illegal to require students to read Charles Murray’s “scholarship"
And if that floats your boat, then you have to check out the @FoundersSayCrap feed!
