Been using @obsdmd alongside AI for a while. Mainly for reading local markdown. But, still using @RoamResearch for thinking and linking. Roam also for maintaining concurrent series of sessions in Claude Code, which writes session summary, links to session and handover, to roam.
Same here. Tried all competitors and for quick entry and for emerging and maintaining “threads” it’s the best. It’s deceptive: I found that unique functionality is enabled by some of the ux design and structure, but this becomes apparent only after a lot of use.

Politics. Imagine if we had policies made and laws enacted without corruption, self-interest, and instead pure focus on what's best for constituents.

Box CEO Aaron Levie (@levie) calls out the MASSIVE opportunity for AI deployment services: "every single one of those companies, whether that's a 50-person firm or a multi-100,000 person firm, is gonna need an army of people to go in and help them with that transformation" "when you go to that law firm and you go to that pharma company and you go to that bank, they need something that bridges the core technology to their workflow in their business process" "somebody has to go into that organization and get it set up, and somebody has to go and provide domain expertise to this model so it really understands our particular business process" Vendor FDEs are incentivized to get you hooked on their platform and to spend more money. Indie FDEs are incentivized to use the best tool for the job and to save you money. Hire indie FDEs.

substack.com/@kensakata/note… an intentional reaction to AI or not? Probably not. Japan's focus on craft, quality, and beauty feels resilient.

Developments in AI, news, and social media have caused me to rethink my data, privacy, and how I interact with the web in general. Starting point: I recall finding the web experience from 2000 to 2004 "cleaner", less intrusive. Step 1: Back to RSS.

"To regenerate after any edit to the source MD: sed -E 's/\[\[([^]|]+)\|([^]]+)\]\]/\2/g; s/\[\[([^]]+)\]\]/\1/g'" Thanks Claude... I'll remember that for next time.

Why have I not installed @RoamResearch Hierarchy plugin before? github.com/dive2Pro/roam-hie…. Almost 5 years of disorder tamed. The homonym element is so useful. Obsidian with markdown and Claude Code is useful, but to discover and make sense of your thinking over time: Roam.

Cardiff cutting nursing and music… it will be interesting to see if other Universities in Wales cut courses, what courses they cut, and whether there is a formal agreement between theme to establish ‘strategic foci’, or similar, to reduce duplication. apple.news/AlzceReCxQeKJHQPj…

How might coherence like this emerge from interactions within a team, or an organisation?
32 metronomes out of phase are put on a movable surface, free to oscillate while the metronomes work. They will sinchronize themselves according to what is called a Kuramoto model of synchronization. [📹 IkeguchiLab] xitter.gq/abakcus/status/1500598…

What is? What if? What wows? What works? Not this, @salesforce: 1. Offer interesting resource, 2. get my contact details, 3. provide a resource I’ve no interest in. Not an intentional bait and switch I’m sure, but not a great customer experience. salesforce.com/uk/form/conf/…

Students at NYU asked the creators of South Park the million-dollar question: “What makes a good story?” They gave one of the best explanations of story I’ve heard: “If we can take the beats of your outline, and the words ‘and then’ belong between those beats… you got something pretty boring. What should happen between every beat you’ve written down is the words ‘therefore’ or ‘but.’” They go on to say, “That gives you the causation between each beat, and that makes a story.” Point 1: There’s an idea in storytelling called ‘Promise, Progress, Payoff.’ Essentially, a story is a neverending cycle of promises that are paid off over the span of the story. It’s a cycle of expectation and resolution. Cause and effect. Conflict and progress. Point 2: A story isn’t a bunch of random events thrown together. A story is a series of but / because / therefore moments. A famous example: • Harry discovers he's a wizard. Because of this, he goes to learn magic at Hogwarts. • But then he learns Voldemort wants to kill him and rule the world. • Therefore, he must find a way to defeat him. Point 3: ‘And’ implies a simple continuation. ‘But / Therefore’ give prior events meaning through causation. ‘But’ implies conflict. ‘Therefore’ implies progress. I’m reminded of a Hemingway quote: “Prose is architecture, not interior decoration.” Great writing is intentional. It doesn’t wander. It builds upon itself. *** I hope you enjoyed that! If so, follow @nathanbaugh27. I study the best storytellers ever and share what I learn.

Rich gives a concrete methodology / a meditation practice if you will / for accessing this kind of unconscious mind in his great work “Hammock Driven Development” You load up your conscious mind with relevant work (often papers/ prior art) then pretend to sleep and rotate shapes

In 1960, David Latimer planted a spiderwort sprout inside of a large glass bottle, added a quarter pint of water, and then sealed it shut. He opened the bottle 12 years later in 1972 to add some water and then sealed it for good. The self-contained ecosystem has flourished for more than 60 years. The garden is a perfectly balanced and self-sufficient ecosystem. The bacteria in the compost eat the dead plants and break down the oxygen that is released by the plants, turning it into carbon dioxide, which is needed for photosynthesis. The bottle is essentially a microcosm of Earth.
