- “There's just a very structural problem in K-pop in general, where companies don't really view their artists as actual human beings and rather see them as products”

if you still choose to support hybe after this, you don't care about human rights at all. no idol is safe under that company - it's high time you realized that and started boycotting them.

You’re not loyal to ENHYPEN. You’re loyal to whatever BE:LIFT sells you. They sell you OT6. You buy it. They sell you Evan. You buy that too. So don’t come telling me you care about ENHYPEN, not while you’re buying and consuming content that was created with their blood, sweat and tears, while the company continues to overwork the members to the point of exhaustion. The only thing you care about is ENHYPEN’s next comeback, which BE:LIFT will offer you in exchange for money and even more exploitation of the members. That being said, you don’t care about them if you keep funding all of this :)

genuinely, what makes you so sure your faves under hybe couldn’t be just as restricted as newjeans? what makes you so sure your faves couldn’t end up in a situation where they don’t have any control or a say in where their voices or face ends up even after their contracts end? like every goddamn fandom under that company should be asking how much say their artists actually have. (spoiler: none)
oh and after reading this article (chills btw, cause wtf?), you still think heeseung could just say “i wanna go solo” and the company would go “sure, whatever you want”? just develop a brain please.
but let’s set aside that for a moment cause this is so much more than that. everyone felt like a hero going “i’m gonna stop boycotting because it hurts the boys, and supporting them will give them more leverage at renewals”.
after reading this, what makes you so sure they’ll have ANY meaningful say at that table AT ALL? how exactly does showing hybe that fans will keep showing up either way give the boys more room to push back on what they’re asked to sign? like…please.
and somehow people have made fighting over goddamn votes their life’s mission while treating questions about how much control their own idols have over their careers like fandom drama. how are you this loud about a trophy and this comfortable assuming the people you’re voting for are fine? considering the label they belong to, not to mention the company itself and its reputation.
but sure, go fuel fanwars over damn voting. every win gives hybe another achievement to promote and another way to show how much fan support it can still count on, without stopping for a second and question how much control does winning that award give the artists over their own careers. (another spoiler: none)
this whole situation genuinely makes me sick. and if doesn’t to you, then you’re just as disgusting.
