Well, another Cardinal has come out with a, shall we say, puzzling take on evangelization. A few years ago, Cardinal Américo Aguiar, at the time auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, said that he and the other organizers of World Youth Day in his hometown had no interest in converting anyone to Christ. Now Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco of Algeria has opined that “the Church is not there to convert” and “Christians should approach other religions through fraternity rather than seeking conversions.” Excuse me, but…what? Last time I checked, the Founder said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Sure sounds like conversion to me. When St. Paul came to Corinth or Athens or Thessalonica, his purpose was not to listen or to form a discussion group but rather to declare an unnerving message: the euangelion (glad tidings) that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. So impassioned is he for this work that he says, “I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:22); and “If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:16)! Moreover, the entire thrust of the Second Vatican Council was toward bringing the Light of Christ to the peoples of the world (Lumen Gentium). And this missionary élan has given rise in the last few decades to the idea of a “new evangelization,” which is to say, a fresh declaration of the Lordship of Christ. Quite obviously, no one thinks that this work of evangelization should be done in a brow-beating, overbearing, or disrespectful manner (proselytization), but for God’s sake, let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. If I really thought that the Church does not exist to bring people to Christ, then I would resign and get an honest job.

The worst part about this loss is the #Eagles won’t make any changes… Philly fans need to start holding Howie Roseman accountable — Having a puppet is more important to him than a good coach. He builds elite rosters, but his fear of losing power hurts this team every week.

What an appalling speech the Mayor of New York delivered for the 250th anniversary of the nation. Sadly, it reflects the view of America propagated for years by Howard Zinn and his like-minded colleagues in the universities and believed by armies of the young: a dark, oppressive country where common people are denigrated by tyrants and oligarchs, where immigrants are treated with contempt, where those with “soft hands” hold the wealth created by those with dirty hands. No sensible person would claim that our country is without flaws, but the relentlessly negative picture painted by Mayor Mamdani is just absurd. And it is the fruit of the Marxism that, sadly, is all the rage today.

So why and how did millions of Americans begin to express hatred for Israel and, albeit more subtly, the Jews who support it? There are four converging fronts in this perfect storm: victorhanson.com/the-four-ho…

Dear President Trump, Thomas Sowell is an American treasure. Please consider honoring him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I can’t think of a greater representative of American values.

Speaking to the Jewish community in Rome, Pope John Paul II made crystal clear the teaching of the Catholic Church on 1) the brotherhood of Jews and Christians; 2) the sinfulness of anti-Jewish hatred and prejudice; and 3) the irrevocability of God's covenant with the Jewish people: "The Jewish religion is not 'extrinsic' to us, but in a certain way is 'intrinsic' to our own religion. With Judaism therefore we have a relationship which we do not have with any other religion. You are our dearly beloved brothers and, in a certain way, you are our elder brothers. On the basis of this brotherhood renewed by Christ, the Church rejects every form of discrimination and anti-Semitism. She condemns them as contrary to the very spirit of Christianity. She deplores all hatred, persecutions, displays of anti-Semitism directed against the Jews at any time and by anyone.... The covenant between God and the Jewish people has never been revoked. 'The gifts and the call of God are irrevocable' (Rom 11:29).

A recent statement by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez illuminates the Marxist ideology which continues to take hold of American politicians. Here are my thoughts.

BREAKING: Kevin Roberts attempts to clean up his video statement from yesterday, in which he attacked critics of Nick Fuentes more than he attacked Nick Fuentes. The statement is fine in isolation. It is a concise summary of why Nick Fuentes is a malicious person who promotes violence. It doesn't address the main issue with his video: Tucker Carlson himself. ➡️ Roberts could acknowledge that the people criticizing Carlson had a reason to do so. He didn't. ➡️ Roberts could retract his statement that his critics are a "venomous coalition...sowing division." He didn't. ➡️ Roberts could try to figure out the contradiction between "Stop criticizing the right" and "Tucker Carlson obsessively criticizes the right." He didn't. ➡️Roberts could distinguish between debating someone and promoting someone. He didn't. ➡️ Roberts could explain where, specifically, to draw the line in terms of who is in the right-wing tent. He didn't.

It’s not GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE- it’s TAXPAYER ASSISTANCE. It’s not GOVERNMENT FUNDED it’s TAXPAYER FUNDED. The government does not make money. It forcibly takes it from its citizens.

Unchecked extreme rhetoric, like labels as Hitler or fascist, will foment more extreme outcomes. Political violence is always wrong—no exceptions. We must all turn the temperature down.

“The notion that rights don’t come from laws and don’t come from the government, but come from the Creator — that’s what the Iranian government believes. It’s a theocratic regime that bases its rule on Sharia law and targets Sunnis, Bahá’ís, Jews, Christians and other religious minorities. And they do it because they believe that they understand what natural rights are from their Creator. So the statement that our rights do not come from our laws or our governments is extremely troubling.” @timkaine Incredible that the current Senator from Virginia rejects the core principle of the Declaration Of Independence.

"there is another side to the gender/STEM debate....The fact that boys tend to outperform girls in STEM has led to a great deal of interest and concern, but the fact that girls always outperform boys in verbal tasks has garnered almost no interest at all."

A significant number of young men who aren’t working rely on government assistance, either through food stamps or cash benefits. From 2004 to 2017, screen time—mainly video games and porn—accounted for nearly half the decline in working hours among men in their 20s. Many of you have heard the term NEETs: young men Not in Education, Employment, or Training. These are often guys in their late twenties living with their parents, working part-time jobs, and spending most of their time gaming, watching porn, gambling on apps, or scrolling endlessly. Their lives revolve around screens and passive consumption. I’ve talked about this before—the myth that if people didn’t have to work, they’d unleash their inner artist. The idea is that free housing, food, and a universal basic income would spark a creative boom. But that’s not what we see. Most able-bodied people who aren’t working aren’t writing novels or making music. They’re playing games and watching porn. Their lives often look hollow and directionless. Work, for most people, is a good thing. It gives structure, meaning, and connection. Sure, a small number might use total freedom to create something beautiful—but most people aren’t wired that way. And that’s okay. But we should be realistic about it.
