These are the four primary methods we pull from when prescribing intensity, volume, and repetitions across different training means. Hierarchy matters. Volume matters. Intensity matters. But in my opinion, nothing is more important than how everything is organized and

Ouch! As for the listening aspect, of advice, the grayer the wiskers get, i suspect the greater impact those words will carry!
Hey Dad Happy Birthday in Heaven Even though Me and “Old Man Bob” never really had the normal father / son relationship that most enjoy, it doesn’t mean that I don’t miss him and his smart ass comments (he had plenty of them) that he’d share whether you asked or even wanted to hear!!! He once told me he always carried 2 pennies with him so he could “throw his 2 cents in” anytime he wanted and trust me… he damn sure would, I kinda need some of his brutally honest advice. Happy Birthday Dad!! Until we meet again, please know that you are definitely missed. Don’t know why but his birthday seems to have hit me a little harder this year than in years past. Time to hit the gym, the one thing we shared as father and son. Suicide Sucks #oldstrongguysrule #powersportstrengthconditioning #

I've been recommending 2 breakfasts , 2 lunches and 2 dinners with multiple snacks to student athletes for the last decade. Kids need calories and extra nutrients to not only grow and develop but to fuel their performance as multi-sport athletes. If you want to gain muscle you'll need to fuel multiple times per day! TJ Watt shares how he fueled his younger days.. 👇 "We had dinner at 5 o'clock and 8 o'clock. We'd wake up to a 5 egg omelet every morning. We'd always have a full breakfast either an omelet, pancakes, muffins or something fresh. Then they would send us to school with two peanut butter jelly sandwiches one you'd eat before lunch and one you'd eat after lunch.... then we'd pay for two double lunches at school. Then after school we'd come home from next level or track practice and at 5pm..."

Yes, i agree, fatigue is multifaceted & need to be parsed out. IMO is a blend of "triggers" that, like the Hebbian feedback loops', can be 1 part feedback & 1 part feed forward!!
The term “fatigue” is often thrown around online as though it represents a single, unified phenomenon. It doesn’t. Fatigue can be acute or chronic. It can be peripheral or central, or systemic, involving multiple organ systems. These distinctions have important implications for how we interpret fatigue and manage it in a training context. Nuance matters.

Consistency is the "Trump Card"
A single resistance training session triggers acute metabolic, molecular & neuropsychological responses. But acute responses ≠ long-term health benefits, and evidence varies across outcomes. Adaptations require repeated training. peerj.com/articles/21827/

The goal isn’t to see how much work we can fit into a training session. It’s to develop the physical qualities we need without compromising the speed and power we’re trying to improve... A potential training session might look something like this start with accel work,

'Protein matters: Intakes of 1.2–1.6 g/kg/day are appropriate for the gen pop, while 1.6–2.2 g/kg/day may optimize muscle anabolism when combined with resistance training. Higher intakes may benefit lean, resistance-trained"
It was an honor to co-author the International Society of Sports Nutrition position stand evaluating the scientific evidence on dietary strategies for weight loss and body composition (PMID: 42867412). Huge kudos to @thealanaragon for spearheading the effort. Some key takeaways: --Calorie deficit is king: Weight loss is primarily driven by sustained energy restriction, with dietary approaches best tailored to individual preferences and goals. --Intermittent fasting isn't superior: Time-restricted eating and other fasting strategies generally produce similar weight and fat loss compared with continuous calorie restriction. --Carb vs fat ratios are overrated: Both lower-carbohydrate and lower-fat diets can be similarly effective for fat loss. Ketogenic diets may lead to greater reductions in fat-free mass, but this appears to be partly attributable to changes in glycogen/water stores. --Protein matters: Intakes of 1.2–1.6 g/kg/day are appropriate for the gen pop, while 1.6–2.2 g/kg/day may optimize muscle anabolism when combined with resistance training. Higher intakes may benefit lean, resistance-trained individuals dieting in a caloric deficit. --Lift weights to preserve muscle: Resistance training combined with adequate protein intake is essential for minimizing lean mass loss during weight reduction. --Meal frequency is flexible: Eating more frequently does not inherently enhance fat loss, although distributing protein across at least three meals daily may benefit muscle retention and performance. --Aggressive dieting isn't necessarily better: Very-low-calorie diets can accelerate short-term weight loss but offer no clear long-term advantage and may increase the risk of muscle loss and nutrient deficiencies. --Metabolic adaptation is real: Energy expenditure can decline during weight loss, sometimes beyond what is predicted by changes in body composition. However, these adaptations aren’t inevitable and may diminish with weight stabilization. Bottom Line: There is no universally superior diet for fat loss. The best approach is one that creates a sustainable calorie deficit, provides sufficient protein, incorporates resistance training, and aligns with individual preferences to promote long-term adherence. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…

New study shows evidence that the repeated bout effect, whereby muscle damage and associated symptoms are reduced after a second exercise bout, persists for ~9 weeks following intense an initial eccentric resistance training session. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
