Labour rights remain difficult to access for many workers, particularly vulnerable employees and those in the informal sector. Many lack the knowledge or guidance needed to file complaints, while others have their cases dismissed due to procedural errors. High legal costs and the long distances to justice centres further hinder access to justice. - Retired Brigadier General Charles Wacha, Industrial Court

At the 7th Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights, one thing was clear: for many businesses, digital rights remain an afterthought.
The #BeeraSharp Podcast takes these questions further.
Each episode unpacks a topic shaping business in Uganda today, from automated decisions and #AI inclusion to #fintech, data protection and digital skills for young people. You’ll hear from experts including Dr. Abdul Busulwa, Paul Kimumwe, Allan Rwakatungu, John Walugembe, Pearl Gakiza and Dr. Julius Byaruhanga.
We can’t recommend these episodes enough, whether you run a small business, shape policy or simply want to understand your rights online.

The conversation around climate change should not just be seen as an environmental issue, but as a livelihood issue, a human rights issue, and a socio-economic issue

“Regional integration can no longer only be about removing physical borders. We must also remove the digital barriers between our markets.”
In her remarks at #KTASymposium2026, Rt. Hon. @RebeccaKadagaUG, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, spoke to the next frontier of East African integration: making it easier for businesses, payments and digital services to move across the region.
From interoperable payment systems to digital identities, electronic signatures, cybersecurity and consumer protection, the systems connecting our markets must work together.
The frameworks and ambitions are there. The measure of progress now is implementation and whether businesses and people can actually experience the region as one connected market.

“Africa must chart its own course.”
Amb. @JanSadek at #KTASymposium2026: Europe’s experience shows what regional integration can unlock incredible opportunity, but Africa’s Digital Single Market must respond to its own realities; from payments & logistics to regulation and cybersecurity.
Can an entrepreneur:
→ Sell across borders?
→ Receive affordable, secure payments?
→ Reach customers efficiently?
That’s where Africa’s Digital Single Market must ultimately deliver.
