After the death of a young man three police officer made comments nobody else was really meant to hear,
And beyond a barely related IOPC investigation they wouldn’t have been. But now those officers fund themselves the subject of an investigation and criticism by those outside of their world.
But before we join that cacophony of damnation read this.

And coming not long after some worrying observations around the police response to incidents during the 7th October protest.
Are they running out of officers or is the organisation simply collapsing
Yesterday a pro-Pally protest opp Downing Street was unpoliced. There was an incident involving a alleged religiously aggravated assault & some obstruction of traffic. Anyone confirm or deny a rumour that BCU's will now be responsible for their own public order events not MO6. It could have been officers were diverted to disorder at the Ballon d'Or event but had pro-Israeli counter-protesters turned up last night it could have got very ugly.

France24.
Apparently
The weekend protests were largely peaceful.
The death of an individual at the hands of “white supremacist” fits with France’s culture of blaming foreigners for their woes after the French Revolution.
All that from the analysis of an American professor on French history.
For me,
It didn’t look that peaceful, the French Revolution followed bankruptcy of the state as a result of funding the American war of independence.
Do I sniff a little partisan bias by France24
Another officer acquitted but had his career destroyed and ultimately took his life.
When will the CPS’s “but it’s in the public interest” when conviction is unlikely, be examined and should prosecutors themselves face questions.
Shame on the system and shame on forces.

Confirmed: a 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and the force has made a mandatory IOPC referral, as it must after any death following police contact.
A referral isn't an allegation of wrongdoing.
What typically happens next:
Suspect: interview with an appropriate adult, then release under investigation, bail or charge. The CPS decides. Under-18s are normally dealt with in the youth court.
Officers: the IOPC decides who investigates. Officers are usually witnesses unless there's an indication of misconduct or crime. The pursuit is reviewed against College of Policing guidance, and an inquest follows.
It takes months.
