🧄 How do you protect yourself?

Let’s summarize all the features Garly has so far: Protection Mode: Get alerts when potential danger is detected. SOS: Quickly alert your trusted contacts in an emergency. Live Location: Share your location in real time. Walk Mode: Add an extra layer of safety while walking or jogging. Last Known Safety Location: Keep track of your last recorded safe location. Garly Meet: Meet new people safely with Safety Check-ins. Parental Control Mode: Protect children with SOS alerts sent to trusted contacts when dangerous content is detected in their messages. Stillness Check-in: Receive safety check-ins when you remain still for too long in a risky place. Coming soon: Voice SOS! Trigger an SOS countdown with a spoken command.

GM! 🧄 We’ve been working on Voice SOS: an optional feature designed to let you start an SOS countdown with a spoken command during a listening session you activate yourself. Here’s what we tested on iPhone and Android: - Recognizing the command with the screen locked.
- Recognizing it after several minutes of silence.
- Starting a simulated SOS countdown and cancelling it from the notification.
- Ignoring unrelated phrases and rejecting “don’t say [the command].”
- Continuing to listen after a different phrase, within the session’s time limit.
- Stopping manually and making sure listening stays off.
- Ending automatically when the session expires.
- Handling calls and audio interruptions.
- Checking behavior with music and YouTube playback.
- Running 15-minute listening sessions and collecting preliminary battery measurements. We also tested cancellation during recognition and made sure an old recognition result cannot trigger a countdown after you’ve stopped the session. Then came the multilingual challenge. We’re comparing offline recognition engines using synthetic speech at different speeds, including negative phrases. Some languages are progressing well; others still need work. A translated menu alone doesn’t make a voice feature ready. Privacy is part of the design: local processing, temporary audio in memory, no saved audio files or transcripts, and no audio sent to Garly’s server 🌪️

First dates should come with butterflies, not worries. Meeting someone new can be exciting. The conversations, the chemistry, the little moments that make you smile… but your safety should never be an afterthought. That’s why we created Garly Meet. 🧄 Before or during a date, you can set up a personal safety check-in, add details about who you’re meeting, and choose your trusted contacts. If you miss your check-in, Garly can alert your selected contacts with your meeting details and last known location. No awkward conversations. No need to explain yourself. Just a little extra peace of mind while you enjoy the moment. Because being open to new connections doesn’t mean leaving your safety to chance. Date freely. Stay connected. Meet with Garly.
