Just going to repost this here to remind myself to #justkeepcheering 🧡💙🧡💙
To console my 11 year old (and let’s be honest even myself) I reminded him that in 1996… we almost lost this @EdmontonOilers team. But a small group of committed Edmonton business leaders took a chance and pulled together a huge sum of $$ to save the team.
No one thought it was possible. And then suddenly it was Then in the playoffs this team faced 6 elimination games … sadly they lost the last one / but so many pple counted them out in the second round. Again this coach took chances, bet on his team and they performed /3
so much fun… so much togetherness … and yes a little heartache I know we will talk about this run and these moments for many many weeks, months heck years to come … likely by next week not many Floridians will even remember …/5
it’s really quite awe inspiring. This season taught me a lot. When knobloch arrived on the scene he broke the season down into 8 game segments and reminded the team if you focus on what’s in front of you and what you can control you can make the playoffs. /2
Well @edmontonoilers that was a tough loss. The last 64 days have been filled with so much passion and emotion. This community continues to amaze me. This team … this team we almost lost so many years ago and this community that fought so hard to keep it ….1/
Soooo has anyone @EdmontonOilers called @ShaniaTwain about her plans for Friday night? #letsgooilers just keep cheering

It was blind faith but they took this risk because they believed our city was worth it…
Three teams in small markets didn’t have a group of pple like that who were willing to take a risk - and so Winnipeg; Quebec City and Hartford all lost their teams.
So we as fans need to support @LetsGoOilers because we are lucky these pple took that massive risk to give us this team. This team that brings jobs to our community, international recognition, joy and yes a bit of heart ache… we keep cheering! 🧡💙🧡💙
