Is the "boys don't read" problem a matter of supply or demand?
More than 70 percent of staff at America's Big Five publishers are women, as are more than 70 percent of editors and a majority of executives.
Adam Szetela argues this is the single biggest transformation in the history of American publishing, and that an industry recruiting almost entirely from elite universities has narrowed what reaches the shelves.

Published today in The Lancet.
"The manosphere, a diffuse commercial ecosystem and loose collection of online communities united by shared beliefs about masculinity, misogyny, and male victimisation, is an under-recognised determinant of health harms. This network has been implicated in considerable health harms: widespread mental health impacts, especially in young people; violence against women, girls, and gender minorities; and delegitimising help-seeking in boys and men. In this Viewpoint, we argue that the manosphere is best understood and addressed as a public health problem."

Men of all political stripes don't think their issues are being taken seriously.
Their concerns and priorities are pretty straightforward. Survey via @aibm_org

That’s MIT based biologist Dr. Kristin Knouse being asked about text messages she exchanged with Dr. David Sabatini, a world renowned former MIT biomedical scientist.
Sabatini was once considered a potential Nobel Prize candidate for his breakthroughs in understanding cancer and aging.
The deposition is part of the evidence I reviewed in a defamation and work interference lawsuit Sabatini brought against Knouse.
Sabatini watched his career, his lab, and his reputation collapse under the weight of campus protests and social media attacks after Knouse accused him of coercing her into a sexual relationship that lasted more than a year, according to court documents.
🚩Sabatini gave me his first television interview since a Boston jury delivered a stunning $6 million defamation/interference verdict in his favor.🚩
The interview airs on #Boston25 News during our 6pm newscast.
I will post the full report after it airs.

I mean Cenk is dumb and a bigot. Everyone knows this. But this ad is dumb and bigoted at scale. It’s innumerate and morally obtuse and if anything remotely like it was aimed at Muslims he and his ilk would (defensibly) be outraged. But this shit is fine when aimed at the you know who.
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.

A review of 65 masculinity measures classified 51 (78%) as deficit-focused, emphasizing negative outcomes associated with masculinity
Only 14 (22%) included ANY attention to masculinity’s strengths. That does not mean those measures focused primarily on strengths
Just 91 of 590 articles (15%) published in Psychology of Men & Masculinities between 2000 and 2018 had a positive focus

"According to the norms within many all-male groups, when one man proposes doing something immoral or illegal, the bro code dictates that other men go along with it."
I wish the author had demonstrated any curiosity about the way boys and young men are benefitted from participating in male-only groups the same way female-only spaces can help girls and young women thrive.
In my book, Generation Uncoupled, I found that it was men with fewer social connections who were most likely to express a sense of aggrievement. Who believed they were discriminated against, and said society did not value them. These are the boys & young men who are most likely to find their way to the manosphere.

Motaz Azaiza strikes me as a naïve young man who vaulted into global fame after October 7, part of a generation raised under Hamas’s shadow. Though not a Hamas operative himself, what he’s now revealing across podcasts and interviews is extraordinarily consequential: Hamas exercised total control over journalism and media in Gaza, and every layer of public life was co-opted in support of its interests and narratives.
In this clip, he openly admits that he moved around Gaza in Palestinian Red Crescent ambulances, a system long exploited by malign actors, including Hamas, for protected mobility. This isn’t unique to Gaza; combatants in many conflicts have abused medical vehicles to gain battlefield advantage. None of that necessarily excuses Israeli strikes on ambulances. But it does expose Gaza’s open secret: non‑medical personnel routinely used the health sector for shelter, transit, access, and resupply.
This compromised ecosystem inevitably created opportunities for Hamas and other violent extremist actors, responsible for severe harm and repression, to operate under humanitarian cover, inviting Israeli suspicion and retaliatory force that ended up killing innocent Palestinians.
