Another work as a co-author got accepted to USENIX FAST 2023, this time it's Android (UFS)! I'm grateful for the team and the opportunity allowing me to work on something that's my passion. usenix.org/conference/fast23… I believe it'll be published sometime in Feb, 2023.

People need to be reminded on how slow microSD cards are and how it does not scale like the rest of the UFS, NVMe interface.
I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really want a microSD card slot back on my phone💳

I frankly don't understand why this is blowing up. I'm just pointing out how slow microSDs are than what people's glorified memories serve. Bitrates are getting higher. I don't want it for photos/videos either.

I literally compared it with NVMe. MicroSDE *is* NVMe. I'm not talking about MicroSDE.

After all those years I've been using wireless ADB so often even if I'm not debugging anything, TIL that PC's adb client sends TCP keepalive at 1 second interval, basically preventing the device to enter proper sleep. 🤦‍♂️ Added ADB_TCP_KEEPALIVE_INTERVAL=0 to my environment.

I still daily drive a S25 Edge and I don't see myself changing anytime soon. Anything else on the market is a downgrade for me.

Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

I'm curious: How many of you are full-time, paid software engineers and think something like PhotoCraft/AnyPS5 is acceptable and should be continued? If you're not a professional software engineer (yet) or are just a hobbyist, please skip this one.
42%Yes, acceptable.
8%No, should be discouraged
4%No, should be illegal
46%(Skip: see results)

My girlfriend recently got a BYD and it was wild to me that it allowed split apps with no variable ratio, so I created one myself. Removed the obnoxious and mostly useless status bar too. github.com/arter97/BYDSplit [1] Before [2] After

We recently added idle compaction to Claude Code! It now compacts long idle sessions right before the prompt cache expires (~1h). If you come back to it later, it only has to reprocess the summary instead of the entire conversation, which saves you some usage.
