I’ve worked in #localgov 18yrs, in #stockport for 11yrs, had 3 roles with partnershp in the title. I’ve never had a week this tough but I’ve never seen partnership working like this. Our #vcse is amazing our #communities are amazing. We will get through this & be stronger for it!

Last night was our event with @npolicemonitor on the school-to-prison pipeline. We’ll be putting out follow up actions and ways to get involved later, so keep an eye out. A huge thanks to everyone who came and the speakers. Let’s organise for our young people and communities.

Good morning! We put out steps to take last night to help organise against the school-to-prison pipeline. The first is below, signing an open letter to Mayor Andy Burnham calling for police-free schools in Greater Manchester. SIGN IT! 🔥
After ours and @npolicemonitor's event, we ask for support and organising to continue. Firstly, please sign the open letter from the community to Mayor Andy Burnham, that details our concerns, and demands Greater Manchester's schools are police-free ⬇️ docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…

It’s not enough to say ‘make sure you watch your language’ ‘don’t say that word’ ‘be mindful of what you say’ when you’re a teacher who hears/is informed of pupils being racist. YP tell us this response is common, leaving them feeling let down. Use the word RACISM and explain.

No joy comes from reading exclusions for racism are increasing, it’s not a solution. Exclusions need to be decreasing. Instead of exclusions, maybe more time should be given to conversations about race and racism in schools and with individuals involved. bbc.co.uk/news/education-503…

.@stormzy is right, the UK is 100% racist. The reason it will continue to be is because people takes those words as the most offensive possible thing to say. Instead of reflecting on how we can make progress across a society that has longstanding racism entrenched in its systems.

If you’re supporting vulnerable groups and individuals please remember if you have concerns over not seeing someone over A few days and it’s unusual please don’t hesitate to contact GMP or their local housing Team and raise the issue. It only takes a moment and could save a life
