We shouldn’t put a price on finding love or force people to move abroad because they have found it.
That’s not being ‘tough’ on immigration. It’s being tough on anyone who isn’t earning more than the majority of the public for having a heart in first place.
NEW: Big climb down just slipped out without any fanfare by the Home Office on its plans to reduce immigration
Minimum income threshold needed to bring foreign spouses to UK will only rise to £29,000 initially. No timeline for it to be raised to £38,700

Quick 🧵 on concerns around AST SpaceMobile's massive new satellite, BlueWalker 3, launching tomorrow.
The experimental satellite will test if AST can directly beam 4G/5G from space to individual mobile phones.
This requires a huge antenna, which could be extremely bright... 1/

Walked past our fellow booksellers @Dauntbooks Marylebone at 7am this morning, in the rain, on the way to the station. The whole scene looked like it was painted by Van Gogh.
So if @EmmaRaducanu wins one more game she will become only the fifth tennis player in history to reach a grand slam semi final from the qualification rounds. #usopen

The UK needs immigration now as much as it did in the 40s and 50s, we need it then because we had lost so many in the war. We need it now because, too many Brits don’t want to do the jobs that keep the country going.
Just got home from a birthday picnic, turned on @thelastleg, saw the @EllieRobinsonGB interview and burst into tears. There is just so much we can learn from these athletes. Happy birthday @EllieRobinsonGB

We're proud of the lifesaving work our volunteers do in the Channel – we make no apology for it. Those we rescue are vulnerable people in danger & distress. Each of them is someone’s father, mother, son or daughter - every life is precious. This is why we launch:
So proud of my mate @NeeNeeCreative who has helped create this illustrated guide to the middle ages. It's out next week. Neil is an illustrator and he did all the amazing drawings. waterstones.com/book/the-mid…
And here is the last poem of #NaPoWriMo2021. Thank you everyone who came along for the journey with me. It was great to do and to hear what you all thought of them. I'll leave them up for a bit. #Poem 30 of 30. athspoemaday.blogspot.com/20…
