Milestones/accomplishments I believe are just as deserving of praise as marriage/kids: -getting an advanced degree -getting a new job or promotion -career change -moving to a new city -buying a car -finishing a creative project -taking yourself on an international trip
how the milestones get framed: the girlfriend, the engagement, the wedding, the house, the kids. Each one gets celebrated like a promotion. Meanwhile, someone who spent those same years building a career, healing, or figuring out who they are gets asked, ‘So, anyone special?’

Years aren't promised to us and life is hard, we should be celebrating MORE not less, and encouraging the people we love to do the same!
Pet peeve of mine is adults that make a very big deal about their birthdays & expect that their friends are obligated to participate

I truly can never have a roommate again bc what do you mean they're turning off your medically needed device?? and it's their cat you're allergic to??
Me: I wonder why my allergies have been acting up so much lately My roommate: yeah so we’ve actually been turning your air purifier off when you leave the room :) so the coned doesn’t cost us money

I agree with the sentiment (not everything has to be social media content) and also, that's a skill issue, because here's my cute Instagram post from my low-effort Valentine's Day hang this year. I'm proud of my hosting and my beautiful friends, so I'm going to post! 🥰
Because you can't post going to a friend's house and having pizza on social media as aspirational.

I started hosting more the last couple years bc I realized: 1) most people are so glad to go somewhere free and not host themselves, that it doesn't matter that I live in a studio, don't make fancy food, etc. and 2) My friends are good people, they don't care if my apt is messy.
oh my god you people literally can't do anything.......

My friends are so good in fact, the first ones to arrive often help me finish tidying up lol. You just have to be brave enough to let people in and admit you can only make pancakes! It's fine! That's a good time!

We need to have more honest conversations like this around having kids, not less! While this would be inappropriate to say to your child as a child, it's really valuable insight when you're an adult to hear about your parent's reflections on their life, including YOU
the daughters are saying very clearly here that this message was expressed and received with love was of paramount importance to shaping their understanding of motherhood and what it is. who is the sadness for? the actual children or your worldview

I was pretty against the expectation I'd have kids one day in my teens (lol) and 20s, so I thought that meant I didn't WANT to have kids. I realize now I want to have kids, but with options, so I have plans for with and without a partner, different finances and timing, etc.

It's so much more realistic and helpful to see it this way! And it means I'm not planning my whole life around having kids, but rather making it a part of a larger life, which it should be!

My relationship with my best friend's long-term boyfriend is so special
Everyone is so strict damn. It’s not like you’re gonna hang out one on one with them. It’s okay to see them as a friend though.

I do see my guy friends' wives and girlfriends differently though. Those ladies are my friends and I would hang out 1-on-1 happily.

reminder that if you can name a single Senate candidate in a state other than the one you live in running in this year’s midterms you are so wildly outside the window of the median voter you should probably recuse yourself from political polls
American voters have absolutely no idea what’s even going on lmao

(holding my cat) i love you so much. i would kill anyone for you (remembering that that’s a reactionary violent right wing coded way to express love) i mean i would build a hundred cities for you

I had to really process this one because I watched the first season of Glee at my 13th birthday sleepover
the baby that quinn gave birth to in season one of glee would be 16 years old today notice how god’s timing is always right

For Lux, I edited a piece by incarcerated writer Bobbi Cobaugh about the dignity of makeup lux-magazine.com/article/mak…
“Show me how you did it and I’ll forget that I saw it” proceeds to take the products and make her wash it off. It wasn’t even dangerous stuff. 🫠
