"Dear citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I am addressing you today as future members of the European Union.
On Europe Day, we celebrate our common European project, when our founding members chose unity over division, and cooperation over conflict.
They decided to build a future of peace, freedom and prosperity on the ashes of the Second World War.

A very warm welcome to BiH 🇧🇦 to European Commission President @vonderleyen.
The visit comes at a crucial moment, with the Reform Agenda for the Growth Plan recently submitted to the @EU_Commission by the BiH Council of Ministers. Discussions with the BiH Presidency and CoM Chairwoman will focus on ways for BiH to move forward on the 🇪🇺 path, and fully use the opportunities on offer, especially the Growth Plan.
President von der Leyen is also visiting @SrebrenicaMC to pay respects to the victims of the genocide and honour their memory.

Today in Potočari, seven more victims of the genocide committed in #Srebrenica thirty years ago were laid to rest.
It is with a heavy heart that we remember what happened. But by remembering, we stand together to reject hatred and denial.
European Council President António Costa and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos travelled to Bosnia and Herzegovina to pay respect to the victims and offer deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
The genocide in Srebrenica in July 1995 was the worst atrocity crime to take place in Europe since the Holocaust. Upholding truth, justice and peace is our shared European responsibility.
Each life lost represents a wound that can never fully heal. May their memory compel us to confront hatred wherever it appears, and to build a future in which such crimes have no place.

📍 The first working day of the Srebrenica Youth School began on July 7 in Sarajevo!
We opened the program by laying flowers on the Eternal Flame, honoring all the victims of the Second World War. Opening speeches were given by @avaltat (@eubih), @renaudmeyer (@UNDPBiH), @VelmaSaric and @tatjana677 from #PCRCBiH.
Through the introductory lecture with @ThomasUnger3 from the @ImpunityWatch organization, we opened important topics of transitional justice, while at the panel discussion "Post-conflict recovery three decades later: Lessons learned and next steps" we spoke with Lejla Gačanica (@UN_BiH), Alexandra Link (@OSCEBiH), Elma Majstorić Ninković (@TheICMP BiH), Ivan Jovanović (@UNDPEurasia) and Zarja Marković-Kosorić (Humanity in Action BiH).
We rounded off the first day with a workshop on empowering youth and building trust led by Jasmin Jašarević from @pronibih because it is the youth who bring change! ✨

A prudent🇪🇺 measure given the volatility of the situation and apparent defiance to today’s 🇧🇦Constitutional Court ruling which suspended the recent RS laws unaterally banning the state court, intelligence agency and state law enforcement agency SIPA from working in this 🇧🇦 entity.

I met with EU🇪🇺 Member States Ambassadors today to discuss the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina🇧🇦.
No-one benefits from threats to the constitutional order, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve greater stability and prosperity. The best guarantee of this is continuing on the 🇪🇺 integration path towards a future in the EU.
The opening of negotiations has never been closer. Political actors have an important responsibility to use the opportunity on offer to make progress on the EU path and take action to seek common ground for the benefit of the country's citizens.
The EU 🇪🇺 is and will remain unequivocally committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU perspective as a single, united and sovereign country.
