Wow, this is what Yemen looked like in the 1960s under British rule. That was over half a century ago, but it looked decades more advanced than Yemen does today. It’s almost unbelievable compared to what the country has become. And it’s a testament to how quickly a country can collapse once Islam reigns supreme.

אצל לפיד הכלומניק שני ידידי ישראל ענקיים - כמו נשיא סרביה ווצ׳יץ׳ והמועמד לנשיאות ברזיל פלביו בולסנרו הם ״שני מקורבים לנתניהו״. נשיא ברזיל לולה האשים את ישראל שהיא מבצעת רצח עם בעזה, תוך השוואה לרצח היהודים בשואה על ידי היטלר. הוא גם טען ש-12.3 מליון (!) ילדים נהרגו בהפצצות במלחמה. בתור אקסטרה- לפיד גם מתנדב לדקלם כמו תוכי את הרטוריקה של לולה על ״עם עם גאווה לאומית שלא היה מוכן לקבל תכתיבים מבחוץ״. זאת, אחרי שידיד ישראל בולסנרו, שהבטיח שיעביר את שגרירות מדינתו לירושלים אם ייבחר, הודיע שהוא אינו מכיר בתוצאות בשל טענתו על הארכה בלתי חוקית של שעות ההצבעה. אני בספק אם ללפיד יש מושג קלוש מה עשה ווצ׳יץ׳ למען ישראל במלחמה. להפנות עורף לידידי ישראל ולהתחנף למי שפועל נגדה - זאת עליבות נפש ושפל ערכי, עוד מבלי שהתייחסנו לרמתה של החשיבה המדינית המופגנת פה. שומר נפשו ירחק מהפתק של ליצנים בקלפי.

עוד שני מקורבים לנתניהו הפסידו הלילה בבחירות בגלל אחוז הצבעה גבוה ועם עם גאווה לאומית שלא היה מוכן לקבל תכתיבים מבחוץ. מחר העם בישראל מתחיל את התיקון, מחזיר את ישראל למסלול של תקווה והצלחה.

Is it possible to preserve an Islamic identity while simultaneously rejecting its substance, as the leaders of the UAE and Jordan attempt to do? I am afraid not. No matter how aggressively the ramifications of Sharia are suppressed through state power, preserving the identity itself will not reinvent the moral character of Muhammad, which ultimately defines what Islam is. I believe the most impactful decision these governments could make is not to focus primarily on reinterpreting individual verses of the Quran, but to flood the public space with made-up stories about Muhammad that elevate his moral character and recalibrate the moral compass of Islamic society. Yes, this would be difficult at first because such a made up biography would be challenged. But over time, if repeated consistently, it could succeed in shaping the imagination and moral instincts of the next generation. Unfortunately, it can't even be a reconstructed biography, because there is ultimately nothing good in Muhammad’s actions or sayings that can be reconstructed.

Former Egyptian Ambassador to Israel Atef Salem explains the deep frustration Muslims carry because Jews are alive and Israel exists. Even without any land dispute, Muslims in Egypt are fed up with their lives and want to wage war against the Jews nearby. He says they cannot stop hating the Jews and Israel. The mere existence of Jews living next to them is intolerable. Peace is impossible not because of borders or security wall, but because the presence of living Jews itself demands blood. What is your response to him?
