I've been working on WhiteBox for a while now, this is the first public demonstration with commentary.
There's also some info on whitebox.systems
I'd really appreciate any feedback:
- What would you like to see more of?
- What features would you like WhiteBox to have?
The first devlog for WhiteBox is online!
I give an intro to its core features: live reloading, compiling and running of code with automatic inspection of variables and return values.
What info about your code would you like available as you write it?

PSA: There are fake job ads running under our company name; Dihedron Software GmbH
Someone is posting job advertisements in our name on @indeed, @SimplyHired and @Glassdoor, two different roles. None of them are ours. Whoever did this took our full registered company name and the postcode our of public record government registry. I believe these are identity theft scams.
We have never posted a job ad on any platform. If we ever hire, it will be someone we already know.
Honestly I am appalled that such big name job search platforms fail to do the simplest verification checks for companies posting on their websites.
I would warn anyone using these services to tread lightly, since if this is allowed to be posted, I wonder how many posts there are from bot scammers.
We filed a criminal complaint with the District Attorney and the police. We're trying our best to get those postings taken down.
If you have applied to any job postings by us and sent your personal details, please contact the police, and kindly forward us the details so we can add it to the case.
I'm feeling the pull to write some of the articles I listed at azmr.uk/bsc25
First up is going to be "Bits are high level", focused on human-meaningful interpretations of bitwise ops.
I have my list, but I'd welcome any additional favourites from you fine people 😄
Once again, @TheGingerBill shown to be correct about package managers!

Very excited to use @Blick_Editor for upcoming videos!
There also *may* be the odd timeline feature/affordance that we shamelessly steal...
It's really quite sad to hear how @cmuratori had felt about Handmade Hero until recently.
The series is directly responsible for enabling so many incredible programmers
Making him appreciate the good he did with HMH is one of the many great feats pulled off by @BetterSoftwareC
If you want to know what is Handmade Hero, here is my discussion with its author, @cmuratori on Youtube!

.@azmreece's talk it out! A deep, technical look into concrete methods for reducing layers of indirection, memory accesses, and showing his Xar data-structure: A simple, pointer-stable, CPU-friendly, growable array.

BSC was full of firsts for me. It was my first time in Sweden, my first time at a tech conference.
But more importantly, it was the first time I found myself among such an incredible group of people, so brilliant, so funny, so creative, so passionate, so dedicated. It was truly the experience of a lifetime.
For the first time, I feel like I’ve found my crowd, my family, a group where I truly belong. You guys are awesome, and I love every one of you.
Thank you to my friends at @BetterSoftwareC, whose determination and hard work pulled this event together against all odds. You blew our minds and created something that will stay in our memories and hearts forever.
At BSC, I made countless friends. I met and hung out with people I’ve long admired, idols, mentors, and inspirations. Your support, your interest, and the sheer energy you radiate have sparked fires that will keep burning in our minds and hearts forever.
Now, coming back to the same airport I left from just a week ago, it feels like I got to visit Valhalla, and now it’s time to return to the mortal world.
This whole experience has been nothing short of surreal.
See you all again very soon.
In the meantime, it’s back to the grind! – at Bräcke, Sverige

In about nine hours, I'll be on stage kicking off the inaugural Better Software Conference! The lineup of speakers is crazy good.

I'm going to finish painting a door frame, maybe have a bite to eat, then stream some cozy WhiteBox dev: fixing bugs, edge-cases & jank UI.

I'm going to add some new debugger features by JIT compiling into the user process.

I've got an idea that I think should majorly speed up breakpoint recovery that I'll be trying out this week.
All going well, this should mean dense inspections cause less slowdown. The effect should be particularly noticeable for multithreaded user code.
