My wife was playing volleyball with some dude who just got deported. Was very sad for him and pissed about trump - he’s here for 20 years, wife, kids, life etc. Then finds out wife is a citizen and dude is illegal because never married to collect bennies. Just an anecdote, but when I talk to my wife about immigration stuff, nothing agitates and annoys her like the fraud. Her very kind of common sense reaction to it is that it’s completely outrageous, an affront to basic standards of fairness and decency.
I of course talk her ear off about many different aspects of the immigration discourse, but that’s the one that really hits home.
